Best game I have ever seen at Kinnick

I don't even know how it happened. It's not like Iowa is known for scoring a ton of points...not being snarky...just how I perceive them. It was perfect execution to the nth degree.

Looking back on it this morning, we had some short fields which never hurts. Usually. Unless it's Iowa, in which case it usually means a FG.

Coaches got aggressive, players responded. Beyond that, I'm still in shock with no explanation.

If you were to poll Iowa fans Saturday morning about which is more likely, scoring 50 points vs. OSU or scoring 50 points the remainder of the season, you would have been hard pressed to find a single fan to pick the former.

That was awesome!!

Frankly, not sure I would have felt comfortable picking the latter, either> It usually takes three games to rack up 50 (total) against OSU.

This actually compares to the 1990 game against Illinois. We got a lead, it was close for a quarter-plus, then the Hawks could suddenly do no wrong. Anything they DID do wrong was offset by something the opponent did even "wronger".

I know I don't post here much, but I've been an Iowa fan since the early 70's (having graduated then from Grinnell College). I don't believe I have seen a more perfect game from start to finish. Just an amazing game!

This game had a different vibe than the other great ones that were nail-biters: 1985 Michigan (prob can never be topped), Michigan last year, PSU in 2008, the Pitt 57 yd field goal game, etc, since this one was just an epic beat-down. But it is as satisfying a win as I've ever experienced in Kinnick, just pure joy from start to finish, which is a nice change from a nail-biter like PSU back in September. Definitely in the top 5 of all games I've seen in Kinnick, but easily #1 for pure beginning to end "Woah did you see THAT?" enjoyment.

Yes Mich in 1985 was probably the most consequential game I have seen at Kinnick BUT the game last night might have been the best overall game I have ever seen the hawks play at Kinnick.

Offense 55 points and defense minus the fake punt flub basically shutting out OSU nearly the final 40 minutes holding them to less than 100 yards or so.

Somebody said take Barret off the Bucks and they are in decline. They just lost like 5 NFL first round draft picks. They had two offensive linemen hurt enough where they had to come out of the game. They came back in but I am sure they were not 100%. In addition they had their best defensive player (Bosa) disqualified with about 4 minutes to go in the first half. The play after Bosa is ejected Stanley hits Fant in the endzone for a touchdown. I would guess if we had two offensive linemen come out of the game and lost Jackson, Epenosa, or Jewel in the first half the game would not have been so lopsided. Ohio State is never in decline they may be a little in between reloading. We have only beaten them about 1 a decade and we are a fairly decent program. Give Ohio State credit. They were likely flat after Penn State, Iowa played lights out and was good enough to take advantage of challenges the Buckeyes faced that day. It was not Meyers best day as a coach either, but he is still a top 3 head coach. Iowa won't be sneaking up on anyone the rest of the season.
