Just finished reading Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer by Warren St John.

It's about the author's experience and "A Journey into the Heart of Fan Mania".

W st J spent a season with his beloved Crimson Tide and their Elephant RV Nation.

It's incredibly well written, lol at times, and makes you reflect about your own "fandom".

Looking for a couple of "must read" college football books to make the next month go by.

Any suggestions?

RIP: Bob Braverman of Friendly Farms on the hill in Iowa City. A great Hawkeye, a better farmer and even greater man.

I just read Dixieland Delight: A Football Season on the Road in the Southeastern Conference by Clay Travis, and it was hilariously well written. Travis is a writer and radio host in Nashville and, while a Tennessee fan, is irreverent towards every team equally.

The premise of the book is this: In 2006, Travis went to every SEC stadium and chronicled his attempts to buy tickets, observe the most absurd fans he could find, and rip into each fan base. Very funny and a quick read. Although written about the 2006 season, his comments about the teams, coaches, and fans still hold up remarkably well. Good writer, hilarious book.

I like a couple by Bruce Feldman, Meat Market and Cane Mutiny. Meat Market follows at the time Ole Miss head coach Ed Oregeron around on the recruting trail and Cane Mutiny is about how the Miami football program was built. Both are good reads.

It's an older one but a good read; "Bootlegger's Boy" the story of Barry Switzer and his time as Oklahoma's head coach. A good friend who's a lifelong Sooner fan recommended it to me.

Junction Boys was great.

The Sweet Season-I think Austin Murphy wrote it-followed St. John's of Minnesota-great read for anyone who played D-3 football

Just a couple off the top of my head.

There was also one that followed a season at Penn St. in the early 90's or late 80's-cant remember the name of it, but it was pretty good as well in my opinion.

Now with the addition of bowen & keeker recommendations... I'm ready and willing to enjoy some good reads over the next 3 or 4 weeks.

Thanks and believe me Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer will be a read you can't drop before you are done.
