Best Bowl Trip You've Been On

I'm not going to the game this year but tell us about your best Hawkeye (or other teams) bowl trip.
Mine was the 2005 Outback Bowl (aside from the game obviously). Game was on the 2nd which is a great deal for partying purposes. New Years at Ybor City in Tampa was great, Coyote Ugly was a blast. Rode back to our hotel in the back of a random pickup. Stole a couple of bikes and rode and jumped them into the hotel pool for hours. Went to Howling at the Moon three out of the four nights. Still have one of their rugs I stole as memorabilia. And my buddy pooped on someones car because he felt the guy was tall and stupid.
It was a great and fun trip (oh to be young and stupid again), but Tampa is a great place to go for a bowl trip

You know how long it took me to totally remove that and.the accomanying stench from my car....typical prole behavior

The cap one was fun, made a trip to universal studios while we were there. 2004 outback was fun, weather was real nice in tampa that year, stayed right on clearwater beach ate grouper almost the entire time lol. Stayed in a hotel with a bunch of cocky gator fans they were talking smack before the game, after the game they didnt say a word.

I've only been to 2 bowls, 2001 Alamo Bowl and 2002 Orange Bowl. I had a horrible experience in Miami, not just the game, but at least the weather was awesome.

But San Antonio is a great city and I loved everything about my trip there. Spent a lot of time down at the River Walk and had very pleasant weather. Also was not that long of a drive from Iowa and made for a nice road trip.

1) Alamo Bowl- The Riverwalk is fantastic!
2) Outback Bowl- Great stadium...fabulous weather.
3) 2010 Orange Bowl- GReat game but the weather was really cold.
4) Capital One Bowl- Best finish to an Iowa game ever. The stadium wasn't so much and too many people.
5) Insight Bowl- Fun game...not a big fan of Arizona.
6) Sun Bowl- Ummmmmmmm...not so much.

Have only been to two, the 2006 Alamo and last year's Insight. Tempe's fine and we're going again, but my sons and I really enjoyed the Riverwalk in San Antonio. A whole lot of noisy, drunk Hawkeye fans packed into a small area; the Iowa pep band marching through the bar area. Actually got to know some Texas fans and share a drink or two with them; they were decent. Somehow we wound up staying in the Texas team's hotel; said "Hi" to Mack Brown a couple times, seemed like a nice enough fellow.

2005 Cap One Bowl. Classic game, LSU fans were fantastic to party with before the game, very nice weather, magical season.

I'm dating myself, but the RoseBowl trip in 1981 ('82) was awesome. Made the trip as a member of the HMB...a week I'll never forget.

I was at all those places you speak of. Outback bowl is outstanding.

I know my least favorite is Orange Bowl. Miami just does not do it for me.
Alamo Bowl and Outback are both a blast and hard to pick one over the other. The Riverwalk is great filled with Hawk fans. Last trip to Outback bowl I spent 3 nights on Clearwater Beach and then spent the next 3 nights downtown near Channelside. Hopefully Big 10 will gets Alamo Bowl back.
I enjoyed the Cap. 1 also. Hard not to with the finish.
The thing that separates the Alamo and Outback Bowls is that they are more centalized. Some of the other bowl games the fans get spread out.
Can't wait to head to Tempe.

I have never been to a bowl game as I am one of those older fans who loves watching the new years day games at home with friends (and the hawks were bowlless in the 60s and 70s). But it is bucket list time and a hawk bowl game is right up there especially since the new years day bowl line up is totally screwed up now.

I have tons of friends who say Outback is great and I have vacationed in San Antonio which is beautiful. Thanks for the info.

Dorms at UCLA, Westwood, Hollywood, the parties/concerts at Disneyland and Universal, Venice Beach, the Rose parade, the CHIPS escort to the stadium, the stadium itself - you cannot beat the Rose Bowl.

Miami Orange bowl against tech. Then we partied with the team after at the clevelander. awesome time
