BCS question

Will Oregon now jump Boise St. in the BCS polls even though Boise beat the at the beginning of the year? Herbstreight (sp) just put them at # 4 of his top 5 and didn't even mention Iowa. (TCU at # 5)

The only mention he made of Iowa was to "get them out of there" as the Hawkeye helmet was tossed off camera. Replaced by TCU.

Well, Mussberger did say we still belong at #5, and Herbstreit seemed to soften on whether Iowa should remain in his top 5.

Thankfully, he doesn't matter, being an AP voter.

ESPN says "get Iowa out of the top 5"!
Here is what ESPN is saying the BCS should look like:

1. Florida
2. Texas
3. Alabama
4. Oregon
5. TCU
6. BSU
7. Cincy
8. LSU
9. IOWA
10. Georgia Tech

Personally, I see us dropping in the polls again. Maybe one or two spots at most and that will effect our BCS standing but this is just ridiculous!

Let's see what the BCS expert says during College Football Final tonight. Why in the heck should Iowa be hurt when they WIN?

I was getting a little bent the last two weeks, but now I have a calm about it. If we win out, it will take care of itself. If a SEC team and Texas win out, that should be your NC game, and well we will most likely get Oregon (as it is right now). If we can survive that one, well we will truly have an arguement.

I am enjoying every minute of this season...We have to, what an amazing thing it is.

In the end, the BCS discussion is pointless unless some of the other undefeated teams start losing. As it stands, without that, there's no 'sneaking' over others, even if we should magically end up 4th in the Coaches & Harris Polls.

Just for giggles: since USC was #4 in both the Coaches & Harris polls last week, I took their points in those polls and plugged them into the formula with Iowa's #1 computers ranking.

That left us with a BCS average of .8877, still in 4th overall and .0050 behind Texas, even with Texas at 5th with the computers. While it would be *possible* to overtake Texas by the slimmest of margins in the BCS, it's more likely that we lose ground in the computers.

People ahead of us just need to lose.

First off we aren't in the top 5 in any human polls whatsoever, so humans can't move us out. At worst we stay at 8 with iowa passing USC and Oregon jumping us. But why we will drop I believe is we well definately drop in the computers. Look at our schedule

UNI Idle
ISU loss Tex AM
Ari Idle
Penn St. Win NW
Ark St. Loss Louisville
Mich loss Illinois!!! that could hurt us
Wisc W Purdue
MSU Loss Minn

2-4 and not one quality win by the teams that won and not one quality loss by the teams to loss, we will be 3rd in the computers at best IMO, prolly worse. And maybe lose some points in the human polls even passing USC.
