BCS commissioners reach consensus on four-team college football playoff - ESPN

This can't be right. I was told multiple times on here that there would be in-conference playoff rounds included! Was I misled?

This blows. SEC and Big 12 emerge triumphant over a weak-willed Delany and Scott of the Big Ten and Pac 12.

Just hope the Presidents show more guts, and put the brakes on this....Plus-One,please.

It will start with 4 teams, then move to 8 then to 16. This is the beginning of the end to the regular season meaning anything. Your Bama's and USC's will just coast every year b/c they will always be in.

When this plays out in a few years,Iowa fans can kiss any kind of postseason goodbye 9 of 10 years....but at least Nick Saban will be happy!

Watch. The first step was getting the NC addressed. Now conferences will scramble to set themselves up to be best positioned. This is the beginning of the process, not the end.

9 out of 10 years is a pretty optimistic view. I'd say more like 19 out of 20 we will be left out. This is a good thing if you're a casual football fan but not if you follow a team like Iowa. There will be an even more increased divide between the haves and have nots now. This is also the beginning of the end for bowl games, as the playoffs expand the bowls will begin to die off until they become as relevant as the CBI and CIT are in basketball.

Correct.......let the realignment begin again. Teams from weaker conferences will be looking to move and increase the odds of inclusion.

With a 4 team playoff the only way a BT team is getting in is having no more than one loss and winning the BT. Sure on the surface that doesn't look too promising for Iowa. But when it goes to 8 or 16 which it will, Iowa will have years that they will make it. I am fine with that.

It's what was needed, and I don't understand why anybody would have a problem with it. It will get tweaked but in the end a 4 team playoff if better than a 2 team playoff.

But who is going to pick up those dogcrap teams? Just because they might WANT to move doesn't mean they're going to have anywhere to go. What does a good conference gain by adding turd teams? There's no real reason for 'superconferences' to happen.

Plus-one would have been the best solution.

The problem is this doesn't solve anything and what the true problem is that the media still has too much control and if some type of controls are not put in place then all you will have is 3 SEC teams and a Big 12 team playing for the NC every year beacuse ESecPN will tout those conferences more than the B1G. The best scenario is a 6 team playoff with the 4 Major Conferences getting an auto bid and then the top 2 teams after that are let in. Based on BCS rankings number 1 and 2 are given bye weeks the first week. This elimimates or reduces conference bias by the media.

The best scenario is a plus-one. The worst scenario is whining about the media.

The SEC is simply better than the B10 and has been for most of the last decade. ESPN has nothing to do with it. They are simply reporting what everyone else knows. One the field the B10 has a lot of work to do to catch up with the SEC.

Thank you ISU for beating OSU last year. No way this happens without that "huge" win. If there was a poll you guys were stuffing right now for reddest bird mascot in states between MN and MO, or campus with the best trampstamp tattoo's on overfed co-ed's on ESPN.com I would definitely pitch in on some votes for y'all!

Yeah. Leave it to Iowa State to screw everything up.

Sorry but a selection committee is a million times better than the current set up. The SEC isn't guaranteed anything and doesn't have any advantage in the new process. In fact I think they have less than they did in the media driven love fest that was the BCS rankings. That is, if the selection committee is set up like the NCAA tourney committee is, which I would be shocked if it wasn't.

I could list a lot of reasons to have a problem with it, but lets just start off with with the simple truth. Its the end of what made college football greater than watching the NFL every weekend.
