Baseball playoffs to expand

if you don't want to end up in a one game playoff then win your division. this expands playoffs without lengthening the season (which isnt possible without a reduction of regular season games which Owen ers will never go for) and gives division winners a clear advantage. this is the best thing baseball has done in a long long time.
Then why not just scrap the Wild Card altogether, and give the team with the best record a first-round bye? Oh, that's right: there wouldn't be as much money getting made if they did that. That's all this is, it's got nothing to do with improving the playoffs.

I.doubt you'd find much support for that. players wouldn't like the week off. it would be a punishment.

the wild card is good. more money and exposure is good. reward for winning the division is good.

7 games isn't really a big enough sample to determine who's better though.

The playoffs aren't really about determining the best team anyways, it's about determining who's champion through a tournament designed to be fun and make money.

This is true which is why many argue we should just go back to the old days of 1 pennant or at least 2 divisions. But we will never see that happen as there is way to much money tied in to these playoff games. The more teams in the playoffs the more tickets being sold, ect ect.
