He's hired the coach. My sense is that, after some initial reservations, it has been met with guarded fan approval. Good first step.
What else needs to get done?
I say they dump the current uniforms, and come out with something new (old?) - a new era of Iowa basketball, with no remnants of the past few years. Who cares if they're only two years old, I personally hate them anyway.
Make CHA a more fan-friendly place to be. They paid a search firm to help locate coaching prospects. Why not hire a production company to come up with ideas to make Carver a better homecourt environment? Move the students closer to the action. Scrap the pep band, or at least upgrade their sound - more cowbell, or something. McCaffery touched on it today, but give regular tributes to former Hawkeyes - fly them in with their families for a game, with a halftime presentation of their feats, a little video, a reminder of what they meant to the basketball program, and where they are now. Make it place where the fans want to be, not as a "nothing better to do" alternative. When the winning comes, it will just make it all that more special.
Come up with some ticket packages - 3-4 Big Ten games, throw in a non-conference.
I don't know, but DO SOMETHING!
