Barta: Leader ... or fundraiser?

Let's look at Barta's resume

Fundraising is certainly a strength, though the BTN fills the bank account regardless of AD competency.

His predecessor hired Ferentz (win), Alford (loss), Bluder (win), Brands (win), initiated Kinnick remodel (win).

Barta has hired Lickliter (loss). He knows enough to stay out of Ferentz' way (win). He was at the wheel during the football rape case of 2007 that spiraled out of control, while a female student athlete was abandoned by her team, coach and athletic department; thus one of the biggest media embarrassments in UI history (MAJOR LOSS). He has presided over a continued drop in basketball attendance, with few ideas or innovations or shows of humility on how to correct (loss).

Is Barta capable of making a decision about a major college sport? Do Iowa fans trust his judgment in leading us to a winning basketball program?

Is he quiet about Lick because he knows something ... or because he's just clueless about what to do next?

A fundraiser he is.

Bump Elliott he's not.

Why won't he be a leader and do what the fans tell him to? That's what real leaders do. They always follow popular opinion, and always change their long term plans when they are pressured to.

Barta like Pollard is an excellent fundraiser, which is the key to job security for an AD. That and a good football team. Or an average to crappy team if you live in Ames
