Barta just doesn't get it.....

Ummm, that is all great....athletes with very minimal talent behind their coach 100% will still get you minimal results. And a bunker mentality among the coaches does not make them good coaches. The problem is simple...poor coaching from top to bottom...and poor recruiting. My fear is that GD gets sacrificed and KF benefits from it...you know, the "Takes time adjusting to a new system" B*** S***.

Yeah this quote stood out to me. Sure, the players are behind the coach. And of course the coaches support one another. But what Barta fails to realize is this fan base is no longer behind the program. I have lost any respect I had for Barta. Iowa football is the Titanic and Gary and Kirk are the ones playing the fiddles as everyone else abandons ship.

Barta absolutely "gets it". He has to come up with any positive thing he can in order to justify keeping KF. He knows his own butt is likely on the block if KF doesn't get the ship righted.

Barta really screwed up by setting the bar so high as bowl championships. The problem with setting such lofty expectations is everyone freaks out if they're not met. He should have just stuck with "as long as we had a chance to win most of the games we lost".

That same quote is what existed at Nebraska. Coach was fired anyway because they know culture had to change.
