Barta Fighting Back

In order to counter the Wed. night Orange Krush invasion of Carver A.D Barta and his top generals have held a war room meeting to discuss ways to rally the troops and save the honor of Iowa Basketball. The braintrust came up with student bring-a-buddy night and dollar hotdogs. Wow, those dogs could give the battle of the bulge a whole new meaning. It was also rumored that Barta considered bringing back the 1000 girl scouts who attended the Sunday women's game for free but decided to hold them in reserve for another game. Desperate times call for desperate actions.

If they gave out giant #1 foam fingers at the game you can bet your *** I would be there. Nothing is better than showing the world (with your giant foam #1 finger) that you are indeed #1.

I can't imagine Illinois is that going to get that many folks to Iowa City to watch a middling basketball team play a bad basketball team on a Wednesday night.

Maybe they could hold a contest in which ten people at random are drawn to scrimmage 5 on 5 at half time with the winner getting lifelong season tickets to basketball and a lifetime luxury suite at Kinnick.

It's really a win win, we draw more people for the game and the people in the stands get to watch exciting, entertaining, and spirited basketball.

It is easy...Do not allow anyone is Orange into the building.

If they come to the window and ask for tickets tell them the game is sold out and to move along...

Coach Lick is hoping that Illinios brings a lot of fans so he can claim he put fans in the seats for at least a couple games this season.

On the other hand, maybe it will wake Barta up if Illinois actually does send hordes of fans to Carver. I think it would be outrageous if Illinois fans outnumbered Iowa fans.

Iowa would be known as the new Illinois west to Illinois fans. Just another embarassment for Lickliter...terrible for the team. But Barta would have to witness it and there would be no hiding his head in the sand about the state of the program and the foolishness about "...a solid foundation has been built."

The winner of the half time contest, plays Illinois in the second half, might be a closer game.

The bright side would be that illini fans fill CHA, only to see their beloved get knocked out of NCAA consideration with a loss to lowly Iowa....I would love to see that orange weeping.
