Barta did not say HEAD COACH

As one of his hiring criteria, though he did say they were the same as when he hired Todd and that was a stated criterion last time.

I hope that means he's open to looking at a top assistant.

What would you like him to say?

Maybe be prepared and quit stumbling with his words. Maybe Phil Haddy shouldn't have announced that Lick was fired before Barta even gets a chance to speak. Maybe tell us he has a plan. Maybe quit talking about himself and what HE wants and how HIS standards and morals are going to be taken in to account. Maybe quit talking about himself just a little?

I would not be shocked if the new hire was an assistant at all...we've given the mid-major head coaches their chance to step up when it was fashionable to do so and they failed. Plus it should be easier to poach a top assistant than to poach a head coach from a bcs program...

What a weak take.

Barta said that he looking for someone with head-coaching experience but then went on to say it wasn't an absolute requirement and he didn't want to limit his search.

He said he has been watching several coaches for years and it just makes one think that he does have a couple of guys in mind.
