Good for him. Had the offer, didn't want to wait around for the hawks. Hope he can contribute for them. Like it when Iowa natives do well.
Fixed that for ya....its WAY early in the recruiting year to think a could wouldn't expect to get more Div 1 offers when he already has one in his pocket in April. He certainly could have held back to see what other offers came his way...Rhoads isn't likely to have given him the "commit now or else" sort of speech...so the kid had options. I doubt that Iowa would have offered, but its not unreasonable to think he'd have picked up some other Div 1 offers, from the MAC if nothing else and perhaps some lower level Big Ten/Big Twelve schools nearby.
Honestly, I love getting the kids the coaches offer early...the Plan A guys. The kids likely destined for the Fullback or Linebacker position...and seems to have a good shot at being a very good player. Only time will tell.

It usually bodes well for programs when this happens. I wish him well except for 4 (or 5) games during his career.

Clones have finally gotten back to having 85(or damn close to it) scholarship bodies on hand for the 1st time since probably 2005. Rhoads has redshirted the majority of each class he's had so far. Mac and especially Chizik had to play freshman out of necessity, but Rhoads will only be suiting up a very select few each year.
Unless Barkley is completely off the charts, hes gonna have to wait his turn for a few years before playing at ISU.
