Banning Belly Putters in 2016

Talking about golf, is that really what it has come down to? I mean really? Golf is not even a real sport anyway. It reminds me of a squirrel, always trying to hide something in a little hole. Takes a lot of balls, but they are still just tiny ones. Finally it comes down to living and dieing by the wood. Except for the always looking for a little hole, this does not sound like a mans "sport" now does it?

Fill me in on exactly how many Man's sports a "Old Dude" like you can play.

In the year 2016, cars will fly, men will inhabit Mars, television will be beamed in to your brain directly form a satellite, and belly putters will be banned.

Olddude: Shut the hell up.
I don't use belly putters. I'm kinda ambivalent about their banning though. I would like to see some factual evidence that they are giving people an unfair advantage before banning them.

It would only be an unfair advantage if certain players were alllowed to use them. If they gave any type of real advantage, besides an advantage in the players own mind, everyone would use them, that is how golf works.

Agreed for the most part. Although you are seeing more and more players move to them. I think the only real advantage it gives it takes a lot of the nerves out of the putter. Have you ever tried putting with a belly putter? It is really hard to yank a putt with one. That is the only real advantage I see, but then again if it was that big of an advantage everyone would use them.

If they ban my good friend Budweiser, who I use to take the nerves out, we will have some major problems. I think you will start to see a lot more of the non-traditional grips(claw, pencil, paint brush...). They are very effective in taking the nerves(yips) out.

Once I was at a event and they had a keg set up on the 9th, all day long I was straight as an arrow but hitting snake killers. After I got thru the back up at the 9th, on a short 3 par, I cracked one that landed about 2ft from the hole. The ole Budweiser really helped.
Another time my brother about killed us in the cart due to the ole Bud.
The Bud giveth and taketh away.

Unless you are playing in certified USGA or PGA events this really doesn't affect you, just like the limit on driver size. I don't see the advantage of a belly putter, you still have to step up there read the putt and make it no matter what putter you have.

Agreed, this isn't going to happen until 2016 anyways.

If I understand forrectly the issue isn't with long putters, its with players who jam them suckers into their gut and anchor them. I agree with banning that. A golf swing is just that, a swing, and should be kept as such.

That sounds a lot like what your man Tiger said.

It's disappointing to see all the young kids that have gone to the long putter. The 14 year old kid that qualified for the Master's next year uses one.

You can't troll me, oldtimer. I know a 20 handicap when I see one.
