'Bama 2019 Non-Con Schedule

Yup, pretty lame. They do schedule Duke, which technically counts as a P5 opponent, but it feels like they are missing a 2nd P5 OOC and 10th P5 opponent total that you would expect a program like Bama to schedule.

I don't think there OOC schedule is the issue. Just off the top of my head they've played Va Tech (2013), West Virginia (2014), Wisconsin (2015), USC (2016), and FSU (2017) and I'm pretty sure all of those games were neutral sites. Now the other teams in the OOC are cupcakes but few if any teams can match the one OOC game that Alabama has played the last 5 years.

Their schedule problem, IMO, is 8 game SEC schedule. The middle and lower teams of the SEC are weak. The conference has lost good coaches and the B1G, PAC12 and B12 have all move to 9 game schedules.

The 8 game SEC schedule would be ok if they were required to schedule 2 P5 OOC opponents too.

It's not fair to SEC schools that all have to play in-state P5 schools every year like Florida (FSU), Georgia (Georgia Tech), Kentucky (Louisville), and South Carolina (Clemson) and then usually play a 2nd P5 OOC every year.

The ACC only has 8 conference games but at least have to play Notre Dame every 3 years.

The PAC, Big 12 and Big Ten all play 9 conference game and most play another P5 OOC every year.

Bama is just slacking when they don't schedule 2 P5 OOC every year.

FSU 2017??? Cupcake! Boston College beat FSU like 35 to 3. And West Virginia???? Not a world beating national power.

FSU at that time had their #1 QB, at least for the first half. Much different team than the one that we saw the rest of the season. And West Virginia is better than most OOC opponents B1G teams play.

Both better than ISU... At the time they scheduled the FSU game it wasn't supposed to be a cupcake game. It just ended up being that way. Look I could care less what Bama does frankly. Iowa having ISU as our only non con game of significance year in and year out just sucks.... I want to see that changed. I've had enough of playing UNI and NDSU type of schools. We win and gain nothing from it. Lose and it destroys us. The ISU game this year happened to be a solid road win due to the couple of upsets ISU ended up having. But normally that's been a game of no upside for us. It's just time to improve that

yeah that isn't happening in the near future at all.

In a game between ISU and Florida State last year, I would have taken the Clones straight up.

2018 it is Louisville, Arkansas State, Louisiana Lafayette and the mighty Citadel! What the heck is Saban afraid of??

Yeah at the end of the year. But Bama played them week 1. At that point FSUs QB hadn't been hurt and it wasn't a given they'd have been as bad as they ended up. That was pretty unexpected.

It does help sometimes. I always get uptight during football season until that first loss and then its like okay forget fantasy land and move on. That first loss is always the hardest, because in the back of everyone's mind at some level we hope and think we can take them all.
Amen. Is one even a fan if you think differently than that?

One of the things I saw stated Butch Jones, former Tennessee head coach, is now some sort of staff at Bama. Just shows how those that have the riches have the resources. Urban Meyer does the same thing. Don't tell me that doesn't create an advantage for those schools.

Hmm....but...but.... they are the mighty FSU, shouldn't they have a 5 star backup? I mean Bama threw in a freshman in the title game and won!
Jimbo ain't Nick, bud. Nick has the best eye for talent of anyone not named Bear Bryant to ever coach college football.
