Is Baer still on the team / healthy? Funny that he of all people didn't get any run on the court during mop up time last night.

Haven't people on the various boards been very high on him as a walk on since he had some low-d1 offers?

Redshirt?

Watched him play at Bettendorf and yeah, I think he could be in 10 man rotation in
Hawkeye future.

HI, do you think Baer is B1G caliber or do you think he may consider leaving, going Juco, then maybe going to a mid major? I ask this because he is only 6'-7" and I don't think he can't play the post in the B1G and we are bringing in 3 wing players in '15, already. We could certainly use another scholly for a B1G post player. If this kid transfers, Fran could get to Juco post players or a HS/Juco combo and give us some immediate post depth.

I think Fran's vision is a team with nothing but 6'7 players.

I don't know anything about Baer. If he's going to be in the rotation next year then he's going to get the remaining scholarship IMO...so we can forget about signing anyone in the spring. Unless of course his parents can afford to pay his way and have told Fran not to worry about it.

Baer is redshirting and I fully expect to see him actually be in the rotation next year. Fran will not be using the last remaining scholarship on him this year.

Baer is 6'-7" 187. Even if he puts on 20 lbs by next season, he isn't a 4. The only 4 we'll have in '15 is Wagner.

With the 2015-2016 roster as we know it now Woodbury, Uhl, Wagner and Uthoff look to be playing the 4 and 5. Hutton probably plays some 4 if necessary due to foul trouble or injuries. I'm sure when the season ends Fran will be looking at 5th year seniors (transfers) and late blossoming high school players with some height and/or bulk to shore things up on the inside...maybe the right JUCO. But he will bank the scholarship if there's no one out there better than what we already have.

Woody would be the only true 5 and Wagner the only true 4. JU and DU are 3's and not 4's and nowhere close to 5's. I'm just saying that Fran needs to award the scholly to someone that isn't just "another" at a position. Whether at 2 or 3, Baer's size isn't a need. We've got a bunch of 2/3 guys. And Baer's size won't translate to the 4.

So, if Fran doesn't find a true post player, give the scholly to Okey Ukah (SR in '15) and bank the scholly for '16. Or, sign the 6-9 Goldman kid out of Arkansas and redshirt him.

He will give Iowa solid minutes. Could be as soon as next year, but if not he will be good player for Iowa during his career. Glad he's a Hawk

can he shoot? a lot of his highlights from High school are inside scoring and he trickled in a couple of Mid-Range shots.

I understand. But those 2 guys aren't going to play 40 minutes a game. And with the current roster and commits it's going to be Uhl, Uthoff and probably Hutton...or the Baer kid.

Yep, by no means do I think Baer at 4 is an ideal solution but it's going to happen for spot minutes next year.
