Badger Football Hire a Lesson for Iowa?

Not to like KF as our coach is one thing. But Im not sure how anyone can say he has sit on his hands for nine years when he has had 3 or 4 top ten finishes. Been in two BCS bowls. That may not meet some people expectations but its not chicken feed either

I think this is the key to it all. Everyone has their own expectations of this program, if they aren't met then the levels of KF hatred starts to show. The higher the expectations, usually the deeper the hatred.

Oh yes, it's "hatred" when adults expect other adults to actually perform as expected and as compensated to do!! Interesting...

Myth, you have to admit that some of the things people have posted here on this site and said during the call in shows after post games is considered "hatred". In fact, many have used the term "hate" itself to describe how they feel.

Seriously? Then why not cut your losses short now and start over? If Garta thinks the way you do, here, then he needs to be gone as well. I agree with you that I don't think there will be another 10 win season under Kurt and that is why I'd like to see him move on.

Iowa has not, nor likely ever will be, a perenial 10 win program. This is the microcosm of all the angst and contention on this board. Everyone has a different perspective and reference of what is "good" "great" "good enough" etc.

Mine is in the Sig....

Happy Holidays.

Then why pay a coach like he can deliver that??? Wonderful, wonderful loser attitude you have! People like you are what is holding this program down and enabling its failure! Thanks in advance for a wonderful 2013!!

Wallace: Why? Why is that impossible? You're so concerned with squabbling for the scraps from Longshanks' table that you've missed your god-given right to something better.

Myth and Walker, you too are so far on opposite sides of the spectrum it isn't even funny. You both make good points but yet you both are extremists in your own right.

This myth guy takes himself pretty seriously, I think.

Hey Myth, who should Iowa hire after they fire Kurt and give him the payout moolah?

Its like Dave was talking about expectations. Every big time school is trying to do the same thing we are. I dont want Iowa to beone of those schools fire a coach every few years. KF has done a lot at Iowa and deserves time to see if he can get it back on track. Thats just my opinion, it doesnt meen someone else doesnt see it different. I remeber Lute Olson saying the worst thing Tom Davis could have done to himself was almost go to the final four his first year because now the Iowa fans will expect it every year. We live and breath the Hawks That can be tough to live up to

How is a fan's opinion of what the program "should be" holding the program down?

So now it is extreme; as well as hateful, to want to replace an exec who has failed for years in nearly every mesureable performance capacity? How long would this charade have been tolerated at General Mills, IBM, 3M, etc etc etc??

I have several times. He's an older coach from the WAC who has only coached in the state of Utah the past 15 years. He has never coached in the Midwest. He has no recruiting ties in the midwest. He has no ties with assistants who coach the midwest. He's never even been on the staff of a BCS school. He coached a spread option at Utah St, which his new boss will not let him run at Wisconsin. He's going to start his job as coach with the AD literally coaching the same team at the same time. He is going into a situation where immediate results are expected, despite the fact he'll probably have a steep learning curve.

Alvarez thinks it is a good hire.
Ghost thinks it is a bad hire.

Of the two which person would you bet on to be correct?
Of the two who has more knowledge in the area of hiring coaches?

Because I was going around here spouting off that I know more about coaching than Barry Alvarez? Liek I said before, obviously this is the guy BA wanted the whole time, which is why he spent so many weeks hammering out a contract and using guys like Petersen and Golden for leverage.

You don't get it at all, I didn't say you were wrong in your thinking, just merely that you are extreme. Yes, extreme is getting on a message board everyday and ranting and raving on every single thread about the same thing, over and over and over again which is Ferentz needs fired immediately.

We all get it, you want KF gone. I happen to agree with you, but by starting an argument and talking down to anyone who doesn't agree with you isn't going to help the situation.

In your response to the issue being tolerated at the company/corporate level is a joke. Seriously, say that to all the companies that too bail out money from the government and was used to pay their executives their bonuses.

Really? Alvarez was rebuffed by Al Golden and Chris Petersen? In Alvarez's very first public interview he said that he assumed that Petersen was "locked in at Boise State and doubted that he'd leave but that he'd consider talking to him." Sources also said that Alvarez's contacts down in Miami (they are extensive as Donna Shalala was the Chancellor that brought Alvarez into Madison and she then took the same job in Miami. The most recent miami AD also started under Alvarez) told him that Golden would not be a good fit so Alvarez didn't even interview him.

So where exactly was Alvarez turned down by anyone?!! 99.9% of the information out there was total speculation. At one point in time I heard that Brad Childress was being highly considered. That was NEVER going to happen. This played out exactly how Alvarez said it would. He said he was going to take his time, he did that. He said not to panic and he said that he wouldn't. He said that he doesn't use search firms, that search firms use him. It played out how he said it would.

I heard the number 1 qualification for the job was the willingness to follow directives from Alvarez. For the new guy's sake, it would be best if Wisconsin loses the Rose Bowl.
