B1G Scheduling ?

Does anyone know how the B1G scheduling process works? I looked online but couldn't find much.

Do the teams you've played only once in the previous years play a factor into your future schedule as far as who you play twice, or is it purely random?

If you had an idea of who you play twice you'd have a pretty good idea on what your schedule might look like.

Thanks for the help.

I don't know for sure, but based on the home/home series Iowa has played since Rutgers/Maryland joined, I think its definitely related. Here are the home/home opponents by year the last 3 years:

2016-17: Illinois, Purdue, Nebraska, Maryland, Rutgers
2015-16: Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana
2014-15: Northwestern, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Ohio State

Only Purdue and Nebraska showed up twice, and all 13 big ten opponents show up above. So it looks like they definitely try to alternate who you face twice.

So based on that, we're overdue to double-up vs NW, MN, Wisconsin and OSU next year. Doesn't mean it will happen for sure, but I'd say its likely.

all i know is since Nebraska joined, Iowa has managed to NOT play in Lincoln twice which sucks for me since that's an hour away.
