9. Iowa (Preseason: 11): AIRBHG did everything it could to hurt the Hawkeyes' rushing efforts, but there were still some bright spots. Mark Weisman was on his way to a special season before -- surprise! -- he was slowed by an injury. Still, he finished with 815 yards and eight scores in only 10 games and was one of the Big Ten's best stories. Damon Bullock had 513 rushing yards and some nice efforts when healthy. Unfortunately, the running game came to a halt when the offensive line got hit by the injury bug, and Iowa finished last in the league in rushing yards per game.

At the college level, most backs can get through a hole if it is there and there aren't a ton that can make a lot happen if there is no where to run. We tend to focus too much on backs when more should be placed in the lines.

Yup, even though as a team we have been in the lower half of the B1G in rushing for the last decade.

I think people forget that Ferentz doesn't play to run up the score like Wisconsin does. Ferentz plays to win, by that I mean he doesn't care if Iowa wins by 1 or 21. But he won't keep his starters in or call plays that result in padding the stat sheets.

Wisconsin be Indiana by scoring over 70 points a few years ago for out of the sheer reason that it gives players live game experience to do what they are doing correctly.

Ferentz doesn't do that. Right or wrong, that is a matter of opinion.

Really?!? Backups hardly get in unless there is an injury.

Many would disagree, me included. I think KF does care if he wins by 1 or 21. He clearly would rather win by 1 no matter what little sister of the poor team Iowa is playing because hey, "Iowa is not sexy." This explains losses to teams like directional Michigan, IU, ISU, Purdue. Trying to keep it close against below average and downright bad teams. You will end up losing sometimes. Godforbid KF decided to ever try and put a team away that it should.
