B1G in contact with Rutgers?

Better not be. With all the stuff flying around, I'm sure the Big Ten will expand but if they are looking at crap programs like Rutgers then we might as well go to the MAC.

Rutgers will NEVER be in the Big Ten. Talking about that is a waste of breath.

According to multiple sources throughout the Big East, conference schools from top to bottom are unhappy with the leadership of the current Big East administration.

After word got out that Iowa State and Baylor were talking with officials about joining the conference, existing members are saying, "awwww HELL no!"

funny - why would the clownz have to initiate talk with the Big E about them joining that conference - if you listen to joe clown fan, it would tell you that the invitation has already been extended since last summer.......

Geebus, If B1G has to expand, I sure as hell hope they find somebody better than Rutgers... What an awful choice that would be...

An updated version of the ESPN article about Pitt & Syracuse applying to the ACC:

"The ACC may not be done, either. The ACC would become a 14-team conference and is still considering adding two other East Coast teams. USA Today reported Connecticut and Rutgers would be the candidates."

No, I wouldn't be thrilled with Rutgers in the Big Ten. But when you get down to it, a lot of this is going to be about the number of eyeballs a team can bring in, and Rutgers is best way to get the NYC market.

It appears the Big Ten is going to miss the boat on Rutgers as well. It seems weird that with all this conference expansion talk swirling around and the Big Ten remains quiet.

WTF!!! Yeah let's go to the MAC even if Rutgers is in the Big Ten, I mean who cares about the fact that Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St, Nebraska, etc... are still in the Big Ten.

Perhaps they've realized that it's stupid to add teams 'just because'.

Why the hell would the BIG go after Rutgers. They suck at everything except for women's basketball. Makes no sense. They would bring nothing to the BIG.

I know that Rutgers doesn't have that "brand" of football or basketball that everybody seems concerned with, BUT it does give the B1G the option of getting the Big Ten Network as a basic sports option in the New York area cable networks. This means $. Not to mention that Rutgers is an upper tier university in regards to education. They are very competitive in many other Olympic sports and can be in the big two sports from time to time. This is about $ isn't it? Rutgers would provide $.

Yes, hawkeyeScott said it more plainly. My version tells you why.
