Awful officiating

It's the new rules. I've said it before and I'll say it again.

It's going to ruin the game. Every game will be a free throw contest.

The rules aren't new, they're actually starting to enforce them. Well, they're supposed to be enforcing them.

The officiating last night was just horrid at times. It went both ways at times. They called some fouls on Wisconsin that I never saw. A couple of them actually hurt us because our guy was driving and they called some ticky tack foul outside. It was the inconsistency inside that drove Fran over the edge.

Quite frankly he had no business being there, after the first couple of times he drove and got blocked or missed he should have stayed out of there.

I said essentially the same thing elsewhere. MG taking 12 (mostly bad) shots last night upset me more than anything else that happened in the game...as it relates to the outcome. I like MG and he's a true sophomore. He will learn...but he hurt us last night.

I guess I'm a homer to officials but I didn't think it was called that one sided or bad prior the the Ts. As usual there fouls/calls that went both ways.

Granted after the explosion they called everything to make sure they maintained control of the game.

I agree I thought the officiating was OK early in the game, it seemed they were calling it pretty well both ways. I know Iowa got away with some stuff and so did Wisconsin but it seemed to be called pretty well. I think the inconsistency was really based on down low fouls. There were times stuff was called and not called. I thought the refs did a good job of calling fouls away from the hoop.

It's funny I bet this size had ZERO ref complaints against Nebraska because Iowa won. I acutally hate the people who complain about officiating more than the trolls. It's gotten real bad with complaining about officiating. The Wisconsin game did not jump out at me as some horrible officiating.

Yeah there were some bad calls that went both ways, but Fran did have a point when he got ejected as Olaseni got fouled on one end and then they turned around and called a foul on him on the other end. But still no excuse for Fran to go off on that to the point of getting T'd up and ejected.

My biggest complaint on the officiating was taking the 2 points away from Olaseni in the first half. The ball was clearly off the rim when they called goaltending and it cost Iowa 2 valuable points.

I can agree with the goaltending call was by far their worse miss. That was bad.

At first the refs were allowing for some rough play inside and then ticky-tac on one end and NBA playoffs on the other. Marbel's charge call was ridiculous, the guy was obviously moving and too far under the hoop. Gesell two times in a row driving right side and getting whacked under the hoop and that's when you could start seeing the steam come out of Fran's ears and then the Olaseni fouls sent him over the edge.

Precisely, we were never going to win the game the way it was being called in the second half and Fran realized that. He was defending his team as he always does. He obviously couldn't stand the incompetence and bias of the refs in the second half. It was more than obvious.....

Tom Eades, the one that was the worst last night and was the one that Fran tried to go after, has officiated 2 Iowa games this year. In those 2 games, our opponents have combined for 73 free throws. He's terrible, especially when you get him on the road. It's just too bad that an official can be that bad and a coach can do nothing about it but get himself in trouble. So now Fran's the bad guy for this guy sucking...again.

He had allot of shots rim out, that doesn't make it a bad shot, they were actually high percentage shots that just didn't fall.

You wan't your guards being aggressive and getting to the rim if they can IMO.

All I want is consistency for both teams and to watch good, entertaining basketball. I am still trying to figure out how giving Bo Ryan the additional help via officiating favoritism really benefits the league when they will once again be out of the tournament after the second round. They are way over-rated, incredibly Bo-ring and add nothing of value to the game. Whatever...... Remember last year's high finish, B1G tourney championship and first round exit to a bad Mississippi team? The only B1G team to lose in the first round but this ridiculousness is all in our head.... Right

I thought it was terrible to end the first and start the second half and so did Fran obviously.

Allot of fouls on Iowa that were no calls when Wisconsin did the same thing, thats what drove him over the edge.

Hey O'Keefe - who would you rather have had officiating tonight - the clowns who called the game or Bain, Valentine and Eddie Hightower?
