ALTOONA – The University of Iowa is leaving itself exposed to legal challenges by continuing to have a pink visitor’s locker room at Kinnick Stadium, two attorneys told attendees Wednesday during a workshop at the Iowa Governors Conference on LGBTQ Youth.

Jill Gaulding, co-founder of Minnesota-based Gender Justice and a former UI tenure-track faculty member, said the Kinnick locker room is one of a growing number of sports-related traditions that use “pink shamingâ€￾ and “cognitive biasâ€￾ to deride opponents and try to “get in their heads.â€￾

Wow. Little did the ol' Sly One realize he was part of a shameful trend in bullying and anti-gay bias. He probably just thought he was painting the visitors' locker room a "passive" color. He probably should have been fired.
 
Sigh... My fear is that these politically correct crybabies are going to b!tch and moan until they finally get their way. And with that success, they will move on to the next thing that they don't like and get that stricken down. And on, and on.

What happened to it being a free country, anyway? We can have pink locker rooms if we darn well feel like it.

Does this mean Iowa has to change the school colors as well, since it is obvious we are making fun of black people and Chinese people with our color scheme? It is going to be really hard to play any sports when the only color either team is allowed to wear is gray.

Can't wear gray either. The rebels wore gray, so wearing gray would make us racists. Forget about white, too - that would make us white supremists, or KKK suporters.
 
She's the only one complaining again.Didn't get anyone to listen to her the last time either.She needs to get over it.She's the only one trying to make it a big deal.
 
This is easy enough to address. The University of Iowa supports breast cancer awareness. I'm sure the PC crowd would be ok with that, right?

Actually a great idea to incorporate that! Could get a bunch of pink ribbons painted on as well.

No, the PC crowd would NOT be okay with that, because it means we have a sexually-oppressive breast obsession.
 
This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read:


“I certainly do conclude that based on all the things that we’ve been talking about and what I understand are the civil rights laws that it’s actually illegal to have a pink locker room because it’s not OK for a public institution to potentially put out a message that people perceive to be based on a sexist or homophobic slur,” she added. “It’s not OK for them to put up a banner that says it’s bad to be a girl. It’s not OK for them to build a pink locker room that conveys that same idea.”

I can't decide if this is the funniest or saddest thing I've read today.

Maybe I'll go sit in a pink room to think about it. You know, cuz pink is a calming color, and could help to clear my thoughts.
 
This has already been tried before....wasn't her name Erin Visuvias or something like that?

Every few years there's a women's lib group or a LGBT yahoo who tries to get her 15 mins of fame by railing on the pink locker rooms. And every time they get shot down and made to look the fool.

I'm not worried in the least. Amused yes, but not worried.
 
This is straight up stupid.

Like Hayden Fry was trying to send a message to girls that it's not OK to be a girl. Morons of the highest order.

Iowa should have a pink out, paint on the walls 'Breast Cancer Awareness' and cut em off at the knees.

Based on his comments and concerns, I would say the pink locker room is doing its job quite well. It's supposed to get inside peoples heads. Job well done.

To normal people, it isn't even an afterthought.
 
Let them bring the suit so that the lawyer bringing it can be sanctioned by the court.

IT IS A COLOR, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!! A COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
