Attendance

Its a double edged sword for the athletic dept. They want to get some wins to start out, but that schedule is simply rediculous and I don't blame people for not wanting to spend money (even 12 bucks) in these tight times on it. That said, if Iowa beats Creighton, I think the numbers will go up substantially very quickly.

I am not shy about admitting that I have virtually forgotten about Iowa hoops for the last 5 years. I imagine many people are in the same boat and it will take some time to wake back up. Iowa has good fans, but there is not a program in the Country, no matter how much history they have, that would not see a substantial drop in attendance if they put the same crap on the floor that Iowa has for the past several years. Its only with the impact in support that changes were made, so, it was worth it.

I hope every person who is complaining about the attendance has been to each game so far.

I have been. I missed two games last season and four the season before that.

I stand by my statement that attendance has been pathetic. Iowa fans need to step it up. We have no problem with filling Kinnick even with mediocre teams. So I don't buy the "it's the economy" argument. People have simply gotten into the habit of not going to Iowa basketball games. Hopefully as we continue to win, people start showing up.

I always figured it would take a pretty good team to get Carver filled up again. Hopefully people start to realize that this is a pretty good team. We don't know how good yet. But they definitely deserve our support with how they have been playing so far.

The only thing I like about the low attendance is we walked down and sat in the 2nd row behind the Hawkeyes bench. That part was nice.

Attendence down slightly, however i think Saturdays game might be enough to make this years attendance higher than last years through 12 games. See original post for details

I'm not worried about attendance at all. Win and fans will come back in droves. DROVES I SAY!!!

The numbers don't tell the whole story.

Look at the schedule. Last year at this time, we had 6 big 10 home games.
This year, we've had 3.

We all know, Big 10 games bring in more fans.

Also, last year we had UNI and ISU at home. A lot of their fans bought tickets, therefore increasing attendance.

At the end of the year, the attendance will be a LOT higher than .8%

Sell out last year was due to Illannoy fans, not Iowa fans.

Also we had the highest increase in attendance last year for a team that did not make the NCAA torney. Last years numbers were not great, but they were a heck of a lot better than licks final year.
