Arizona St Fires Todd Graham

"When evaluating our head coaches, we have been very clear in our four-prong approach: integrity, academics, performance and fan affinity advancement," Arizona State vice president of athletics Ray Anderson said in a statement. "From the moment he arrived in Tempe, Todd helped change the culture and emphasized the student in student-athlete here at Arizona State, elevating the program to unprecedented heights in the classroom and strong citizenship across the board.

"However, our athletic department, university and community expect our football program to compete on the field for Pac-12 titles, be competitively consistent and qualify to participate in major bowl games on a regular basis. In evaluating Todd's body of work over a four-year period, it became clear that a change is necessary."

Wow...that's half refreshing.

So...just thinking out loud, here. but if we win our bowl game, would kirk become the all time winningest coach at iowa? could he then contemplate r-r-r-e-e-e-e-trirement? again, just thinking out loud here.;)

And the Az St coach literally had a better winning percentage overall and in conference. It appears that you are the one trying "too" hard.

I don’t need to try because ASU laid it out to Todd. Participate in Major abowls and compete and win Pac 10 titles. He did none!!! KF Major Bowls and conference Titles check check!! That meme fits you perfectly spin it like The Clinton’s lol...

Yup he will

KF is also going to try and ride it out exactly like Hayden did and retire at the age of 70.

hayden wasn't riding anything out. he even coached his last season with cancer. so, he definitely wasn't on auto pilot.

I have mad respect for Hayden and he is my favorite coach of All-Time but yes Hayden did ride it out to 70 and well aware of the prostate cancer he had.

riding out makes it sound like he wasn't trying. now, if you mean he wanted to coach until he was 70 because that was a personal goal, fine. a lot of coaches do that. but he damn sure hadn't quit coaching.

Fry never ever ever didn’t try!!! He gave it his all and IMO he could of coached at Iowa for as long as he wanted.. He earned that right

Just like the Clintons have paid trolls, Kirk has you...

Kirk's either the luckiest guy alive or a master snake oil salesman in that he had these amazing years right as the masses were gathering at the gates.

First it was the successful rebuild from the hayden fry scortched earth wasteland that he left the program in, then it was the 2009 season, then the 2015 season. It doesnt hurt that Ferentz has an AD swiping right at pictures of his face all day.

So get ready because 2021 is gonna be fun!

It's interesting, cuz they went 7-5 this year and 6-3 in the Pac-12, while Iowa went 7-5 and 4-5 in the B1G.
Also, Graham's overall winning percentage & conference winning percentage @ Az St was slightly higher than Kirk's overall & conference winning percentage. Things that make you go hmmm...

I don't recall Graham having any 12-0 regular seasons or Rose Bowl or Orange Bowl appearances, not to mention conference championships or divisional championships.

Maybe Graham would have eventually won more if the pinheads at ASU would have been as patient as the Iowa ADs have been with Ferentz. Ferentz could have been fired after going 4-8 in 2012. He wasn't, and has been 42-23 since that time (65% winning percentage).

Just sayin'.......

seriously, mo, fry didn't leave bare cupboards. there were several of Fry's recruits that played for ferentz that were NFL'ers. I wish i remembered which thread it is, but someone posted these details last night in a thread on this board.

1 ranked season in 5. Zero bowl wins.
20% success rate gave you a boner.
He shoulda been fired in 2012.

KF is not known to hire assistants who'd have a future coaching D1 football. HF on the other hand did.

So these guys don't exist??

John Bonamego: Central Michigan (2015–present)
Jack Cosgrove: Maine (1993–2015)
Bobby Wilder: Old Dominion (2007–present)
Joe Philbin: Miami Dolphins (2012-2015)
Bret Bielema: Wisconsin Badgers (2006-2012) and Arkansas Razorbacks (2013–present)
Chuck Long: San Diego State Aztecs (2006-2008)

And that's the head coaches. There are many assistant coaches out there as well.
