arena shrinking curtain

Basketball averaged 11,635?

yea, 2005 called and they want their attendance numbers back

the curtain could greatly improve the atmosphere at MBB games which could go along way in helping a young team.

No, the men's team does not need it. Nor would they benefit from using it. How many games did you go to last year? It was more than half full.

Who cares how many are there....11k paid? boo ya....We'll take your money, I could care less if you actually go.

So I have only been to like three games(little more into football, and they were when I lived in state). I dont live in town. what is the cheapest price you could get into a game for? Reason for asking is that I live in a town three times the size of IC and I was wondering, even if the hawks are bad. Why are people not going? Really its B1G. Its in the winter. Around where I live 3AAA baseball is $7 and hockey is $9. WTF. Thats cheaper than a movie and out of all that Id rather see basketball. I really dont get this.

Under 18 can get into a few games free. At least they could last year, otherwise its like $15 a ticket. Me and a friend paid 15 for the Purdue game. It may be more thought since I was under 18 then.

Thats through the ticket office, btw.

There have been times the last few years that I would have preferred they put that curtain around the floor............. so the fans don't have to see the game?

Mark my words.

Within a year or two the scalpers will enjoy their seller's market... demand will be high and Carver-Hawkeye will rock like never before.

RIP: Bob Braverman of Friendly Farms on the hill in Iowa City. A great Hawkeye, a better farmer and even greater man.

Until Carver Hawkeye starts looking like Penn State's home basketball games I would say let's skip the curtain for now ...

I don't want to read the article again (I did read it when this was first posted), but I thought it said that the curtain ISN'T for MBB, but rather for WBB and the other non-revenue sports played in Carver (gymnastics, volleyball). Those sports could use it, since their attendance is nowhere near the level of MBB, and never will be consistently (I would guess that WBB has been close when Lick was coaching).

I read the same thing- womens basksetball and volleyball and gymnastics. For the women's games it might really enhance the atmosphere. For the mens it might take a season or two but I think the day will come when we see Carver full pretty consisitently soon rather than later. I can just feel pent up energy building around the basketball program that I haven't seen for a long time.

College basketball's glory days are over.

These will make the arena quieter, as they as soft surfaced, thus absorb sound, that will make the crowd sound less imposing and will work against the desired effect of "intimacy" as far as noise goes. It may make it look full to a tv audience, I guess, but then, who cares?
