Are You Kiidding Me? No, It's Iowa Basketball

I just turned off my television set after Adam Woodbury missed an easy up close shot.

This Iowa basketball team is reeling fast in the Big Ten race & it's not pretty. When I was watching the game, I saw that Nebraska was in 4th place while Iowa was in 5th place in the standings. I even heard Dick Vitale say that Iowa's resume is to strong to keep out of the NCAA Tournament. After what I saw tonight against Michigan State, I beg to differ.

I'm a Hawkeye fan & I can't believe I'm saying this about Iowa. They're too soft of a team & lack physical toughness to make it very far. They can't play defense. They can't make free throws consistently. They don't have a go-to player that can dominate. They're sleep walking during the critical part of their season when it counts the most for the selection committee. What else am I missing?

I want players that can take it to the next level not middle of the Big Ten conference. I know Marble, Basabe & McCabe are seniors, but they disappear in critical parts of a game. I hope this Iowa coaching staff will be getting some difference makers to finish off the 2014 recruiting class.

Who can step up & take this team on their backs? Marble shows glimpses, but isn't consistent enough. Basabe is tough down low when he wants to be, but disappears. McCabe is an effort guy, but is a liability. White is a good player, but disappears. I'm running out of players which explains my frustration of why this Iowa team lacks that knockout punch to put a team away.

It'll be very interesting to see what this team will be like a year from now. Will Dickerson & Atwood be teammates wearing the Black & Gold to round out this recruiting class? Will Uthoff be more aggressive & get stronger for Big Ten play? Will White develop a reliable jump shot? Will Gesell be a better foul shooter? A bunch of what if's that need to be answered because this year I'm not seeing it.

I'd like to see what Darius Stokes, Kyle Denning & Kyle Meyer can do for this team or if Iowa can get a big name transfer from another Division I program. I'm sure there'll be some names out there that Iowa can pursue after the season is completed.

Any thoughts? I just want to see Iowa basketball get back to being relevant again after suffering through several coaching misses in the past.

Any thoughts? Did you really type you wan to see what walk ons kyle denning and Darius stokes can do? Oh my. I will tell you what they can do. They can be practice bodies and help fold towels next hear. Not an intelligent question.

I want to do lewd and lacsivious things with Kate Upton. Odds of that happening are as remote as Iowa basketball hanging a banner with any significant meaning in the next two decades or Iowa football winning any real hardware in my lifetime. It don't stop me from watching and fantasizing, but yeah, ain't gonna happen, pal. Reality. Live in it.

I saw Lickliter play & it wasn't pretty. I don't want this team to ever go through that experience ever again. I'd like to see what other options Iowa might have with this roster. Maybe a diamond in the rough might rise like Drake had with Adam Emennecker, but that might be wishful thinking on my part. I want to see this team do well in the future & would like to get some players that can make a difference.

SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Marble does plenty for this team. White needs to get back to his regular self, and yes better Forward play rebounding and paint points would help significantly. Hopefully Kyle Meyer can bring something to the table next year, otherwise I'm afraid he's a wasted schollie.

I'm hoping your just a troll with the Stokes and Denning comment. Couldn't you at least point out you wanna see more of what Jok has? Stokes and Denning probably are pretty valuable... in PRACTICE. Come'on.

Especially with his disappearing act in the 2nd half of games.

Don't see everyone else picking up where Devyn left off during those "disappearing acts". I get what you're saying but very cheap shot. Don't fault a player when there's a reason he's trying to do things by himself.

Thank you. You just talked me down from the ledge and brought perspective. Little Lick was a nice kid but I still can't believe the University of Iowa actually had to play him in this day and age. Good heavens.

Maybe I should've said at the end of games instead. Sorry, brah. A simple observation that he's never made a game-tying or winning shot at the end of regulation isn't a "shot", just a fact. Nobody else has made a clutch shot like that because the ball is always in Marble's hands at the end of games for some reason. Maybe he'll make one eventually. I can only hope.

GoHawks - You a UNI fan? How you feeling about their game tonight? I'm liking UNI -5, got any reasons why I shouldn't pull the trigger?

Yeah, I graduated from UNI so I pull for them, but I'm not nearly as big of a fan as I am of the Hawks. I really couldn't say because I don't see enough of them. Plus, they're such a Jeckyl and Hyde team this year. They've got great spurts, like when they were up on ISU by 20+ and then blow it.

Marble has made enough huge plays and shots at the end of games to prove he can handle the moment. They have never been at the buzzer but he has iced games in the last minute and made a lot of huge shots to give us the lead at the end. We just usually end up giving the lead right back. Watch the Villanova game if you want proof.
