Are We a Lock for a Postseason Tournament?

With 4 tourneys and the fact that you have to pay to play in two of them... I would hope we can afford it. Sad

NIT bid stealer...Regular season MAAC champ Iona loses to Fairfield. May put them on the NCAA bubble but it is doubtful they will get in.

I'll chip in a buck or two to see the Lads playing in the post season.....

There were 14 auto bids and 18 At-Large teams in the NIT last year. 11 of the At-large were from BCS conferences.
The more chalk we have the better chance at the NIT. So far I only see one auto bid for the NIT and that is IONA.

Belmont - Atlantic Sun
UNC Asheville - Big South
Murray St. - Ohio Valley
Creighton - MVC
St. Marys/Gonz - WCC

Need to cheer for:
Oral Roberts vs. SDSU
Bucknell vs. Lehigh
Valpo vs. Detroit

It doesn't matter if they get in or not. You have to look at NCAA & NIT as one pool in our situation. The fact is Fairfield would not have gotten a bid into either tournament and now they punched their ticket into the NCAA. So either Iona gets into the NCAA as an at large kicking one of the other bubble teams to the NIT.

I am aware of that.

This conference now gets 2 bids. There are 8 or so teams that are legitamately on the bubble are in the NIT or NCAA no matter what.

Xavier, S. Florida, Arizona, VCU, Oregon, Colorado St., Northwestern, Texas, Miami, etc. will get into the one of these two no matter what happens. Its the near bubble at-large teams that are effected like Iowa, Illinois, Dayton, St. Joes, NC State, Tennessee, LSU, Miss. St., Mississippi, Colorado, Marshall, UCF, etc.

I think everyone is pretty much saying the same thing. Regardless of whether Iona gets in the NCAA Tournament or not, there is now one less spot open in the NIT for Iowa. That's all that really matters.

You can probably add Illinois State to that list as they made one heck of a run in the Missouri Valley and just came up short in OT. They might have played their way into a NIT bid but that might have been at UNI's expense. So it is debatable they took a NIT bid away as I think the Missouri Valley gets one either way.

Im not saying they are out, but I like our chance against Illinois St. as long as we win our opener. ISU is 3-7 vs, RPI top 100.

Oral Roberts just lost in the semi-final of their conference tournament.

FWIW Statsheet.com, which is one of the better sports sites out there, has Iowa as a projected CBI team.
