inferiority complexes? we are basically Oregon, without the Nike money. we will never get the "big name coach", we have to bet the money on an up and comer. we struck gold with KF, and would have with Stoops too. we could do that again. but, we're not going to get the big name. just how it is. we do have great resources though. settle down, dude.

Kirk Ferentz makes more than 10% more than Chip Kelly per year!! Also, who hires "the big name"? "The Big Name" is only on the market once every two or three years...Pete Carroll, Nick Saban, Urban Meyer...of course we're not going to get those guys. But we can land the guys like Brian and Chip Kelly. Brady Hoke. Dana Holgerson. Kevin Sumlin. We can very easily bring in a guy like that.

i guess we just differ in that i don't think the next AD (i don't think Barta will be around to make the next hire) will be willing to shell out 4 mil for our next football coach.

Gary Barta looks plenty smart to me. The Iowa Football program is an absolute cash cow for his athletic department (yet another reason why coaches would love to be here). Kirk Ferentz, from a beancounter standpoint, is worth every red cent Iowa pays him.

I mean there really is no way to have evidence cuz there is no way a coach is going to flat out say that he would rather be somewhere else. I do believe thou that since he coached at ND and has always said great things of ND that if the opportunity opened up he would deeply consider it. That being said I think Fran is really happy at Iowa and I don't think he's leaving us anytime soon.

So there is absolutely no reason to believe that he would want to go to a school that has not been a recent basketball power?

It's not one man job, Fran cant do his job without Andrew Francis, Sherman Dillard,Kirk Speraw and the staffs. They all works hard . It's huge difference compared to last two coaches

I would imagine if Fran had considerable success at Iowa and then Syracuse or another eastern school came calling he would listen. But it's not something I'm worried about.
