OK, Mr. hostility here.j I'm back. First or all, sorry to be so hostile. I really feel no hostility toward any of you. I just think that many of you are wrong. I certainly have that right, just as you do to believe that I am wrong. It doesn't offend me in the slightest.I do get upset when people post opinions that have no basis in fact.Smoot27 alleges that Ferentz has a poor record in close games. Really? In my world, the definition of a close game is one decided by 8 points or less (one possession). Here is the Ferentz record since 2000 (you draw your own conclusions):2000 2-32001 2-42002 3-12003 2-02004 5-02005 0-32006 1-32007 3-22008 2-42009 5-22010 2-52011 2-2Overall record in close games: 29 wins, 29 losses.Horrible record? No.Great record? No.Acceptable record? In my opinion, yes.

Horrible record? No.
Great record? No.
Acceptable record? In my opinion, yes.
Really? We can do better?
We can do worse.
Ferentz will do better. He just brought in a good recruiting class.
I think you would have fired Fry in 1989, when he went 5-6. That seems to be your mindset?
Let me ask you a fair question; what happens if Ferentz goes 4-8 next year (it could happen). Would you fire him then?
yep, if I had the authority, I'd kick his azz out. 4-8 is NOT acceptable with the resources that the University gives KF, and I'm not even talking about his $3.8 million salary 'cause the U doesn't provide that
Kinnick renovation...check
Brand new state-of-the art practice facility...check
Use of UI jet for both personal and recruiting purposes...check
Blind eye toward OWIs, DKJ drug house, City Boyz, dorm rape, etc...check
Need I continue?
Well, thank God you don't have the authority, because you would be making the wrong decision. He'll be coach at Iowa for many more years and you will be making your negative posts for that entire time.yep, if I had the authority, I'd kick his azz out. 4-8 is NOT acceptable with the resources that the University gives KF, and I'm not even talking about his $3.8 million salary 'cause the U doesn't provide that

Who would you try to replace him with?
Iowa is 29-29 in games decided by 8 points or less since 2000. It is one stat available in evaluating a coaching staff. I think it is a good record. He has won 60% of his games and led us to 11 bowl games. Those are the stats that matter to me.If you actually read the linked article you will see the errors in your points: Kirk Ferentz and the Myth of the Percentages - Black Heart Gold Pants
2005-10
"In fact, Iowa was one of only two teams that was more than one game under .500 in one possession games over that period of time (the other being the aforementioned Clemson). If you take 2009 out of that total, Iowa is a putrid 8-17 (.320), one of the worst records in all of football."
His record is actually worse when you remove games when we were beating a team by more than one possession and allowed them to score towards the end of the game to get back within the margin. That record you point to includes UNI and Arkansas St. as well as others that we were heavily favored by and barely won.
Well, thank God you don't have the authority, because you would be making the wrong decision. He'll be coach at Iowa for many more years and you will be making your negative posts for that entire time.
I'm happy with this coach and this program. This is a good man and he tries to do the right thing. I'm glad he is our coach and I think I represent 98% of the fan base. You are the vocal, fringe minority. You are entitled to your opinion, but most Iowa fans disagree with you.
Why is this relevant? This has already been addressed. Did you have any idea who KF or Fran were before they interviewed them? Were they your first choice to be hired. If you answered yes for both, then maybe you are right. Until then, not so much.

And no, it hasn't been addressed, there has been one poster who has thrown out a name they are interested in. Everyone else just throws out ****** off rhetoric and when confronted with who they may be interested in they ignore the question.

Please answer thge question: did you know much about Fran or Kirk before they were hired? I'm sure you were among the masses calling for Lick's head. Did you call on Fran specifically? I could thow a bunch of names out, but it doesn't matter and that's just playing fantasy coaching. Wanting a coach replaced does not mean he must predict the next coach.
What's the point? By your logic, an offensive line coach for the Ravens who had a mediocre record in his only head coaching role at Maine would have never been a suitable replacement for the legend, Hayden Fry. Your question is really pointless and a waste of time playing.
Jon gruden, urban Meyer, pat Fitzgerald, bret bielema, Chris Peterson. If 3-4 million a year is on offer you can talk to ANYONE.
And the "who else could we get that is better" argument is just as cowardly because it's higher than the high road. Some people want a change. That is their right and they don't have to justify it with specifics.
By your definition Kirk Ferentz has sucked and Fran has yet to do anything so it's not like these dudes who have come from no where have amounted to anything whatsoever so how is it a waste of time exactly?
And wanting a coach fired is playing fantasy AD. Especially in our situation as it won't happen (we aren't paying his salary for him to sit and do nothing) ****, message board posting is a waste of time if you follow your logic.
And I'd like to see the lists of possible replacements, it might be interesting to discuss how they may/may not be better than Ferentz.

Sure that's their right, you can have any opinion you want but it doesn't mean it's a good one. And how is it cowardly exactly?
And we wouldn't be offering our next coach what we're paying Ferentz considering we'd still be paying him.
