Are the Ferentzs trolling our emotions?.....not intentionally of course...but something to chew on...

Consider this. Purdue beats Wisconsin next week. There are pros and cons for Iowa if Purdue wins or Wisconsin wins. For example, we get more leverage on Purdue with them losing with them owning the tie-breaker over us. But, a Purdue win almost certainly drops Wisconsin out of the West race.

Then this happens.........

Wisconsin slithers back to Camp Randall with a loss to Purdue. Their season has nothing exciting left for them other than maybe a mediocre bowl game. Then they have to play Iowa.

Iowa has had 2 weeks to stew on the Purdue set back. They are hearing and will continue to hear how much their offense sucks, how much Petras sucks, and how their defense has taken a step back. This is when a Coach Ferentz team is most dangerous. He gets to play the no respect card. He knows they are playing a one dimensional offense. He knows he has the special teams to give an added edge. The Iowa players have taken much delight in playing on the road this year.

Iowa is the team that has something big to play for.

Everyone expects Iowa to do next to nothing against Wisconsin's defense.

Instead, the defense plays all world again and the offense is clicking. Wisconsin gives up early along with their fans. Iowa rolls to a blow out win.

That would be so Ferentz like.

Meanwhile, we also see in the next 2 weeks
-Iowa St beats Oklahoma St
-Michigan, Michigan St, Penn St, Ohio St.....it is likely 2 of these teams will be defeated in the next 2 weeks
-Oregon has been living and dying the past couple of weeks, say UCLA or Colorado gets them.
-Florida beats Georgia (probably not, but it is at Florida)

With an Iowa win over Wisconsin they could jump 4 or 5 teams and be sitting around #6 or #7.

Sky may not be falling if this team is pissed off enough at the world and the coaches get creative with this buggy, clunky, and dated offense.

And that is just in 2 weeks how much things can change again.

Iowa isn't going to win the West. If we're as bad as we looked vs Purdue (should have been 35 - 0, with the dropped pick six and the fumble into the pylon) they aren't winning in Madison. If they lose in Madison, the season is over because you can't win the West with a loss to Purdue and Wisconsin, who are right with you in the standings. Head to head wins tiebreaker, and you're done.

Thanks for your usual sage advice! Now I can just pack it in and sell my season tickets.

There were two teams that could control their own destiny with a win against Iowa in the West coming into last weekend. Minnesota and Purdue. Iowa could lose one against any other team, and win the West.

They lost to one of the only teams that they couldn't lose to and be in the driver's seat. Now they need help, even if they win out. If they lose another, it's over because now they're even with Wisconsin and Northwestern, and behind Minnesota and Purdue. The best they could do on their own is tie with Wisconsin, and Purdue, in that scenario. With a head to head loss against both Purdue and Wisconsin, it's game over.

If you think Purdue is going to beat Michigan State and Ohio State you're fucking high.
