AP Voter Fraud

Dumb. And polls like this actually influence who gets to play in the BCS or more importantly, the NCG?

AP doesn't have any affiliation with the BCS. It used to, but several years ago (and I don't know who instigated the split) the two sides broke apart. Now in the BCS it's the Coaches Poll, Harris Poll, and Computers (I think). AP awards their own national champion, but it doesn't hold near as much prestige.

A part of me is hoping that TCU and Boise St. end up #1 and #2 and play for the MNC. That might be enough to shake up the system and create some sort of playoff. Can you imagine the outrage from the money people in the SEC land about no SEC team being in the game? No Big Ten team? No USC, Texas, or Oklahoma? It might be enough to blow things up. I'm not saying TCU and Boise St. aren't good teams, it's just that they don't have to play the schedule that teams in the BCS conferences do. If they had to face the quality of opponents that Iowa does week in and week out they might not look as good as they do.

If TCU and Boise St are the only 2 undeafeated teams in the country and they are ranked #1 and #2..... Hello Playoff System!

They could have cured all this last year if they would have split those 2 schools up and put Iowa vs TCU/Bst in the Fiesta and GT and TCU/BSt in the Orange.

By not doing that they both automatically got high rankings this year because....well .... nobody knows how good they really are. If they would have beaten Iowa and GT then they would have deservedly be where they are today in the rankings.

HOWEVER, if they would have both lost... then both of those teams would be ranked in the high teens today and not 3 and 4.

The AP Poll was openly a fraud as soon as they gave Scott Wolf a ballot. That guy knows as much about football as my 2 year old daughter.

my two year old can say touchdown and go hawks...i think that is still more football knowledge than any pollster in the BCS

Actually I think the AP poll does matter, because ESPN uses the AP poll as the rankings of the teams playing. And Chris Fowler and Herbie both talk about how they are going to vote each week at the end of the Saturday night games. And since ESPN is the most nationally followed resource for college sports, people follow those rankings. So while they may not figure into the computer rankings, they are still influential.

I've also been wondering if anyone working for ESPN should be able to cast a ballot in the AP poll. Although its only a couple of people, they are still influencing, even if only slightly, where teams that play on their networks are ranked. And the higher the rankings, the more viewers there will be = money for ESPN. Seems like a little bit of a conflict of interest.

At least AP voters have the ability to watch the games. Coaches don't even do that. So you tell me which poll is more accurate.
