Anyone else think Lick is coaching his last game for Iowa Thursday?

Lick internalizes the stress, I think, and it probably contributed to his health issues.
Life is short,lick....do the right thing...take a negotitated buyout that gets you to 5 million over your 3 years at iowa, and grab a lower stress coaching job at a small college where your approach is embraced. Big time college bb is a different sport than small college ball. At Loras,he would do fine.

I really want Lick to be successful at Iowa. I think he's going to be here next year, and want him to turn this ship around. Please, God, let it be better than this year.

However...

With Pollard sticking behind McDermott, that means that ISU won't be looking for a new coach. That would make it easier for Barta to find someone, because we wouldn't be going to the same watering hole as ISU.

We have the money for a buyout this year. ISU doesn't, but next year they might have to make a change, regardless of their finances.

This is the year to make a change. Or write Lick a life-long contract.

Hiring a new coach would be the only thing that would bring me any excitement about Hawkeye Basketball. Next year I will watch and attend a couple games because I am a Hawk fan but will do so with apathy. If I had the excitement about hiring a new coach, researching that coach and his style of play etc..... that would be an awesome feeling and I would look forward to next year with an impatient feeling wanting the season to get here as soon as possible.

Me, I would prefer to be an outpatient ... until Obamacare passes and then ya'll can pay for my hospital stay. Now if there is a coaching change I will be impatient for the start of the new season. ;)

Emulate the MSU style of ball...tough,physical defense, run as fast as possible and take it if it is there, and rebound the hell outta the ball....get a coach that can recruit, and sell the program to kids and the fans will be back.

I was one that a couple of weeks ago thought Todd would be back no matter what, but after the disasters that were 3 of the last 4 games especially the last 2, I think is the straw that may have finally broke the camels back with most people and Barta may make a change.

I think this is almost used as rationale to keep him. If ISU is keeping McDermott for another year, why can't we keep Lick?
I do not agree with keeping him at all. I just have a hard time seeing them make the move. Although I wish they would. It would give me some optimism going into next year.

I think Jon and Steve got it right this morning. With Pollard sticking with his guy for another year, this is the perfect time for Iowa to make a change. Iowa would be the only D1 Iowa school looking for a new basketball coach; the focus and (hopefully) excitement generated by a hire would be all Iowa's. Players and recruits would notice that.

If Iowa wins tomorrow, Lickliter is back next year. If Iowa comes close to winning, Lickliter maybe will come back next year. If Iowa has another Minnesota-type performance, Lickliter had better not travel back with the team.

I have supported Coach Lickliter all year, but......

I think he will be fired at the end of this season. I base this conclusion on the following:

1. The way the team has played in the last two games (no life; no effort).

2. Rumors I am hearing from some reliable sources in Iowa City (I know it is tiring to hear the lame old "source" refrain, but the sources really are tuned in to the program).

I think he will be fired --
