Anyone else think Lick is coaching his last game for Iowa Thursday?

One month ago i was convinced Lick would be back but the way we played down the stretch I have a gut feeling a change is going to be made. The losses hurt but the blowout losses hurt even more. Our last 4 road games were a complete joke and an embarrassment. I have no basis for this statement other than being a fan but I think Lick is gone. I guess we will all find out for sure in the next week or so

What do you think - is Lick staying or going? I know many want him gone but im curious as to how many people think he will actually be fired

Realistically, I am not thinking it....I am HOPING it.

Agreed that end the end of the season was a complete mockery to the game of basketball. And, to Iowa basketball history.

I have former players, most who played since 1995, telling me how embarrassing this is to them.

That is a tell tale sign.

He is quickly becoming a bizarrio coach. His comments after games, before games, about transfers (it wouldn't surprise him if players left??), he says his son should be playing earlier and more after the Michigan game. Seriously I want him gone.

I honestly can't take much more of this loonyness and quite honestly more logical people making bigger decesions at the University can't be blind to it either. I'm going out on a limb and saying he isn't doing himself any favors...

Have to agree that his interview with his comments about transfers and what might happen once the season is over sure sounds like he thinks he might get fired, imo. We can only hope this comes to pass. Time will tell.

Absolutely not! In fact I think he will do just enough (for Barta's standards) next season to grant him a fifth year as well.

I haven't been a supporter, in fact I've been very critical, but he really does deserve one more year. If he turns the program I'll be damn glad to say I was wrong. If they play any where close to this season he should be helped to move.

The only way it's Lickliter's last game is if he has major defections at the end of the season.

We are at the end of a 3-year losing season streak. Which, FYI, has only happened at Iowa one other time. If memory serves, it was in the 1930's.

The 2009-10 season is the worst that we have ever had in the history of the program.

How in the world does this guy deserve another year?

I sure hope if I have my worst day at work ever that my boss would fire me. At least I would respect him for doing what was right for the 'company'.

But, at Iowa, the boss (Barta) feels that, after three years of absolutely horrendous results on and off the the court, 'his boy' deserves a 4th season.

Of course we are going to improve next year. a) because the BT will be down, and, b) when you are at the bottom you have to rise at some point.

And, we get to be the laughing stock of the BT men's bball circuit a little while longer.

Who knows, maybe the concessions folks will make it $1 dog and $1 cones night every night at Kinnick as so we can average 5000 per game.

I don't think there is a snowball's chance in Hades that Iowa fires a coach 3 years into a 7 year contract. Lick could decide to leave on his own I suppose, but he won't be fired.

I don't know if Lick will turn it around or not but nobody should be fired for having their worst day at work. The best employee in the world is going to have his worst day sometime...so everyone in the world should be fired?

And one more quick question, is the basketball team playing in Kinnick next year? That'll be some cold nights..:p

I think he and Gary will have a big sit-down after the BTT and set new goals for next year but that Lick will be back.

What if Iowa goes out and gets rocked for the 3rd straight game to end the season? Lick's buyout is a drop in the bucket compared to what they will lose in tix, concessions and what they make from football and the BTN.
