Anyone else confused by May last night?

I actually like the game AC played last night. He hit a 3. He made all 4 FTs down the stretch...didn't realize he had gotten up over 70% at the line until they mentioned it. He definitely has some things to work on but he's a true freshman. I think our true freshmen this year are so good we forget they're true freshmen. During his post game interview Fran singled out AC as someone that he was thrilled (not sure this is the exact word) with tonight.

That's true. I'm probably overly focused on a particularly awkward stretch, and the missed switch. Inconsistency is the norm with freshman.

I'm confused about why we're talking about this. For the last 4 to 6 weeks, Eric May has been playing lights out, a streak that makes me believe it is NOT a fluke. He has one sub-par offensive performance (where others picked up the slack) and we're wondering what's up??

As far as I'm concerned, Eric did EXACTLY what we needed last night. He has no need to apologize.

GO HAWKS!!!
Where are all the experts who had relegated May to the end of the bench, or worse yet, thought he should give up his scholarship and transfer to a Div. II school? Don't remember any mea culpas.

Overreact much? The OP discussed two plays. Two plays. Nobody asked him to "apologize", and nobody said he didn't play a great game.

I think May handled the missed switch...pretty clear message to AC and ESPN2's entire viewing audience. lol

He probably didn't want to get tackled in midair like the Cavaliers were doing all night and not receiving a foul. More than likely the Hawkeye received a foul for being tackled. He didn't want to risk an injury. I don't blame him. The first one I believe he took off too soon.....

He also shut Harris down the second half which contributed significantly in the Victory......

Hitting both threes really helped......

He is the most steady force on the team and is essential cooling things down when we are in trouble.....

:)

he and mccabe bring a lot to the team that goes unnoticed and for sure not on a stat line. a ton of energy on defense for starters.

You misunderstood the point of my post. Throughout his career, the thunder dunk has been a trademark of Mays play. I was surprised he didn't use it on two occasions last night. It left me confused, nothing more. Who said anything about needing to apologize?

Oh, I see you have recanted. Sorry.

No problem .. .. I'll be the first to admit it when I realize I'm wrong. Of course, if I believe I'm right I'll also be the last to let go. In this case .. I admit I was wrong.

GO HAWKS!!!

On the first play he took off way too early to be able to dunk the ball. It looked like the defender was gaining on him and he just rushed and took off too early.

On the second play the defender had the angle on him. He just was in no position to dunk.

He isn't really a guy who gets dunks when defenders are right by him in the air. Those seem to be ones Aaron White gets but not May.

I wasn't even referring to the OP. I was referring to all the posters on here and other Hawk boards over the past two years that were basically stating that May was a wasted scholarship.

I would have liked nothing more in the game last night to see one of the Hawkeye bash brothers; May, Gabe, Mel, or White. Throw one through the hoop and take that taunting clown Anderson with them. Unreal how the refs let him run around and taunt the entire game. Most of the time I could careless how a player celebrates, but last night VA, especially Anderson had moments of pure unsportsmanlike, punk behavior.
