My own pet theory is that the new turf installed last year has homogenized the venue for visiting teams. The old grass turf, with a crown, gave kinnick a little bit of a non-conforming non-generic feel to it....now,as far as the playing surface, the visitors could be on their own practice field ,or any of the dozens of field turf stadiums they play at all the time. Minor deal, possibly, but in my opinion, it has taken away a slight edge the Hawks used to have over visitors. Perfect footing is now assured. Real grass is getting rare, these days, and I think it is easier going from playing on real grass to turf for Iowa when they went on the road vs visitors going from field turf to real grass when they came to Iowa.
