I missed the arguments over Steve Alford that covered message boards back in the day. Come to think of it, it's pretty much the same as what covers the football boards all the time now.

Alford was a victim of the economy. The economy started to turn and folks couldn't afford to go to games anymore. I'd give anything to get him back for another season. Back when we had Alford, we won big games in March, bince he left, we go to the BTT and lose right away. I thought if Alford was given a few more years and if the jackals (namely you guys) didn't turn on him, the course of Iowa basketball would have been different. Alford left a pretty stacked team, Lickliter changed up the tempo and we just fell off a cliff. If Alford had SonderGorney, Jake Kelly and Gatens all on the court at once, he would have gotten them deep in the tourney. Instead, we got Lickliter, who taught the jump pass as good fundamental basketball. We deserved better.

Plus, I liked seeing that ring. That ring is a constant reminder of what we expect, but until we came back a few weeks ago, we were all just hoping for like a 7 seed in the NIT. I can't wait to see Fran wearing one of those rings in 2 years.
