Any thoughts on our "new" recruiting regions?

As it was mentioned in the press conferences, who thinks it's good or bad that we are seemingly going to focus more now on Texas, Ohio, and closer areas; and a little less on Florida and the Northeast? I think it'll be okay if we can actually achieve a little more success in Ohio and Texas. Other than a few young, mostly unproven guys, we haven't had too much luck in Florida recently anyway. Maybe that is why they are turning away from it a little more, besides certain opportunities that may arise.

we have had success with Texas kids and Ohio kids when we get them, and i didn't see the pressor. did they say they were going to stop recruiting certain areas or just scale back the efforts?

There will be nobody recruiting Florida or the Northeast full time anymore. As Kirk put it, they are going to "spot" those areas. Levar has the KC-Texas corridor(with help from Davis), and Brian has Ohio(probably with help from Phil).

was wondering Iowa is on Joey Bosa 14th nationally by rivals from Florida, St. Thomas Aquina, same school that gave us Rudock, not sure we should drop Florida completely

Maybe the coaching staff feels comfortable about the status of their "pipelines" from Florida and the NE. So they think "spotting" the recruiting is sufficient?

Thoughts?

Remeber that Brian Ferenz went to HS through his soph year in Baltimore area. He will have good ins for Dc/Batlimore area. Davis has Tx connections that are excellent. I like it.

why give up on Maryland and NJ, makes no sense to me, DT Webb and Poggi and LB Daniel and QB olsen being the top players in those two states, make it a headscratcher

I think this is another change to address the attrition issue along with helping Coach K take the same job at NU. Or at least reduce the probability. Kids being farther from home obviously isn't the only reason we've had attrition issues...

ok thx for the info, Texas an Ohio are good areas to concentrate on hopefully with Meyer being the coach for OSU he will be to busy getting top talent from out of state Iowa can get a few more of their 1st page or 2nd page players out of Ohio, and to get any of the Texas top 100 would be a boost to Iowa
Iowa looks to have a stromg class this year, and from i can see it is going to be a small class in the 16-17 range and will be a good year to be picky in who the coaches take

Bosa isnt interested in Iowa. Alabama, LSU, OSU, and the FL schools.

LOL, yeah, a guy that went to middle/high school for a couple of years until he was 14 should have some tremendous recruiting advantages in that area.

LOL

i think he might get recognized more for being the Patriots coach and being young will make him attractive but i was under the impression he won' be in the NE and will work Ohio and Illinois, which is the area Iowa gets most of their top OL from and Illinois is loaded again
