Iowa isn't among Showers top choices. So we can forget about him.
Here are some top candidates that come to mind:
Carter (CB from OH) - I don't know about his time-line, however, Iowa sits pretty well with him.
Martin (OL from IN) - Iowa has a shot. It depends on how good of a fit he feels Iowa is. He obviously appreciates how good Iowa is at developing O-linemen ... hence the fact that we're in his top two. However, will the fact that he's a Kentucky legacy make him feel more comfortable with UK? I don't know ...
Price (LB from PA) - Iowa has a shot. Three points probably figure most prominently with him .... 1. Proximity, 2. Exposure, 3. Available opportunity, and 4. Chance to play with his buddy Jefferson. Ohio State owns the proximity advantage, however, Iowa arguably owns the latter two advantages. Ohio State obviously benefits some in terms of exposure due to the fact that it is a traditional power. However, it's also hard to exploit that exposure if you're not a starter. Iowa is a program that is back on the national radar because it is a legit BCS bowl contender ... and there isn't a very clear line of succession for Iowa's starting MIKE LB spot ... thus, that invariably leads to the perception that Iowa offers a bit more opportunity to earn an early starting job at MIKE.
Jefferson (DE/LEO LB from PA) - Iowa has a shot. Pitt seemed to be the leader for Jefferson's services, however, they now seem like they are "full" at DE. Furthermore, Iowa offers an academic program that seems to perfectly fit Jefferson's likes and interests (in the arts). Lastly, there's a chance that he could play with a high school buddy (Price) on the Iowa D. While many indicators possibly point in Iowa's favor, the longer that Jefferson waits, the more it seems that Jefferson is waiting out for a program that is closer to home that he also likes a lot. Unfortunately for Iowa, proximity is usually a very signficant factor that influences where a recruit commits.
Kirby (CB from PA) - Iowa has a shot. Iowa appears to be among Kirby's top 3 and the Hawks are also pursuing his teammate (Williams) at WR.
Williams (ATH from PA) - Iowa has a shot. Iowa appears to be among the Williams's favorites. Many places seem to be projecting Williams at LB. Iowa might be distinguishing itself from some of the other programs by offering him at WR. Furthermore, if he spoke to Norm or Coach Wilson, I'm sure that they told him that they could definitely find a spot for him on the D if WR didn't work out for him at Iowa. After all, Iowa isn't too bad at developing LBs!
