Another reason to dislike the NBA

The NBA sucks because it gives certain players calls to get to the line.

A foul is a foul. It should be the same for Kobe as it would be for Matt Barnes.

Do you hate the NFL too since they call roughing the passer on Tom Brady a little quicker than they would on Jamarcus Russell?

I don't need any additional reasons to dislike the NBA.

Actually, that's not fair. I'm too apathetic to dislike it. We still have an NBA, right?

Hello? Since the Suns have gone zone in game 3,the lakers have settled for outside shots, hence not drawing fouls. Simple. Phil avoided even mentioning the refs last nite in the post-game,and he usually works that angle if he feels an unfair disparity.

Face it, the suns have adjusted and the lakers have not adjusted back..yet.
And for those who diss the NBA...must not like pure bb. Last nite was the essence of the game, skilled guys that just make lots of long tough shots with other talented athletic guys jumping at them. Great ball movement setting up clean looks.

This years NBA playoffs have not featured many tight games, but these two series could get very tight and are entertaining.

It's not just the number of three point shots that explain the difference in free throws, it's the change in the Lakers offensive philosophy the last two games. The number of three pointers they've taken in games 3 and 4 compared to games 1 and 2 just helps illustrate this point. Since the Suns went to the zone, the Lakers have not been nearly as aggressive in getting to the rim. They are settling for more jump shots, three's and two pointers, than drives to the rim. The Suns' offensive style hasn't changed at all, they're still attacking and kicking out for three's like always. The Suns don't take as many long two's as the Lakers have been forced to take in the last two games. So it just comes down to the fact that more jump shots, not just three pointers, equals fewer free throws.

Yep, just count how many pick and rolls Nash and Amare/Lopez run, this is set play for Phoenix basically every time down. If its not there, they kick out to the three. Not too hard to figure out. How come we didn't see this being brought up after game 1 and 2.

on Dan Patrick radio show Monday he had the gambling referee, Tim Donaghy on. He said that in the referee meetings with the league office during playoffs, that the league would tell them to watch for certain things. It was unsaid, yet fairly obvious they wanted Team X to win.

And it isnt like Tim Donaghy has an agenda against the NBA or anything so you know what he said has to be true

People who generalize the NBA as fixed or that players dont play hard or play defense dont actually watch the games. These guys are the best in the world and they are playing their ***** off (except for Vince Carter). Last night was a great game. Both teams had a chance and it was the suns hitting 3's in the 4th, not the refs, that won the game for them

I can see not liking the NBA regular season but if you dont like watching NBA playoff basketball then I have to question if you are a basketball fan

Be this as it may, the two teams took an equal amount of 3 pointers in game 4 so please stop using that as an explain for a difference of 20 ft attempts per game. The Suns outscored the Lakers by 15 pts at the line, Regardless of who your favorite team is the one constant in the nba is that the referees are the worst and most inconsistent in all of sports

Agreed. I really like watching college basketball but the difference in skill levels between Big Ten teams and the NBA is shocking sometimes. And with most of the top talent leaving early now, you just don't see players in the NCAA with real polished offensive games like you do in the NBA.

Exactly, many people in this thread need to take some reading comprehension classes.

Did anyone ever consider the Lakers may have thrown up more 3's because when they were going to the hole and getting hacked with no call (unlike the other side of the floor) that they had to change their plan?

The Lakers lost game 4 because the Phoenix bench killed them in the game, especially in the 4th quarter after the lakers took the lead with the 3 or 4 straight, unguarded 3's. Though the free throw differential is comical, the last two games if the free throws are more consistant, like they were in LA, then assuming the lakers make their normal 70% then they win, or it's closer.

And don't tell Laker fans they always get the calls, i sat through the 90's when they were screwed in series vs San Antonio and Utah more times than i can count, where breathing on Malone, Stockton, Duncan or Robinson was an immediate foul.

Kobe getting calls depends on the refs. I watch all the LA games too. Mauer and Crawford were reffing last night and Kobe never gets to the line when either one of those ref. When I saw the officiating crew last night, I knew he wouldn't get to the line much. Other times he gets ridiculous calls like Lebron, Durant, and Wade get on a nightly basis. I actually read on ESPN from unnamed played about officiating and he said Kobe doesn't get as many calls as people say, but that Wade gets the most calls.

Also I heard Donaghy on the DP Show. He said yesterday that the Suns would get most of the calls last night. I've read his book, but I still don't know what to believe. He doesn't seem honest.

The two things I really hate about the NBA...

1. The constant crying from the players every time a foul is called or not called. In some ways, I wish the NBA would adopt MLB's rule about not arguing with the umps. Instead of not being allowed to argue balls and strikes, you're not allowed to argue fouls. Only the coaches would be allowed to argue with the officials.

2. The season lasts way too long. Same as the NHL, these playoffs are a marathon. Can we get to the finals already?? Reduce the number of playoff teams or something. Or reduce the amount of days off during the playoffs. A day off for travel and that's it.

Cant argue with either of these points
