Another coach that did not fit

It seems to me that Lick is not a bad guy. He just didn't work out here. Does anyone remember the circumstances surrounding Raveling's departure? I seem to remember he had a lot more raw talent to work with but he never seemed to fit either.

Well what kind of coach does fit than? We got rid of the cocky Alford and picked up the subdued Lickliter (who apparently didn't fit either)

It does make you wonder. Hopefully with the practice facility we can get some things turned around. it also makes you appreciate what Davis did.

In my opinion, a coach who WINS. Lickliter simply wasn't winning, but I'm starting to wonder if Alford kind of got a raw deal from us. I know his tenure wasn't great, but recruiting was picking up a little towards the end, and we average 21 wins his last 2 seasons.

Tom Davis?

It's not an issue of "fit." It was an issue of losing--too many games, too many players.

Period. If he keeps his players and wins, he'd have been here for the duration and beyond. Some few might have been bored by his style, but that wouldn't have cost him his job.

In retrospect, I must admit that Mr. Davis did get a raw deal. At the time I was ready for a new coach. It just goes to show you "Be careful what you wish for"

The program has never gotten back to the level it was under Mr. Davis. He definitely got a raw deal. If he had stayed at Iowa we would have enjoyed at least participation in the NCAA Tournament. That was exciting because we had a chance. I will always be a fan of Dr. Davis.
