UPDATED: Another 2013 WR- Jacquille Veii & Brian Lemelle?

UPDATED: Brian Lemelle, Harrisburg, PA WR has a slough of offers including PSU, VA, VT, NEB, Rutgers, Pitt, PU, etc. I can't help but wonder if something is amiss at WR; as in someone leaving or switching positions or maybe a de-commit.... Maybe I'm reading into it too much but seems like we have a lot of WRs from 2012 and 13 classes.

ORIGINAL POST:
Scout has an article from yesterday Dec 10 saying Iowa leads with Maryland de-commit Jacquille Veii. This after Iowa was seemingly done at WR with Powell's commitment yesterday.

It is possible (pure speculation on my part) that someone is leaving the program (shocker I know) or perhaps one of the currently verbally-committed recruits isn't solid?? Current players aren't producing, maybe passed on depth chart, looking for greener pastures?

Here is article on Veii's de-commitment. He has offers from MD, BC, Purdue, Iowa and Ohio and supposedly "he's a 4.3 40" guy. 5-10 175 pounder.

Avalon’s Jacquille Veii decommits from Maryland - Recruiting Insider - The Washington Post

Thoughts on adding yet another WR after 4 commits to date and I believe 3 last yr?

We have issues at WR so Iowa is looking at as many as they can. We were in on Veii a while back before he committed to Maryland so I don't read anything deeper into this besides the fact that he wasn't as happy with MD as he thought.

He has been listed as an "athlete" everywhere that I have seen. As mentioned earlier, WR is clearly the biggest weakness on our roster right now. I'm not talking numbers, I mean talent and quality depth. Combined with Kurt's comment about "needing guys that can score touchdowns" and I don't think it's a stretch that Iowa might take a flyer on someone they consider to be a dynamic playmaker, positiion be damned.

Absolutely correct! This team has WR's coming out of the wood work but none of them besides KMM has much experience or real talent that is yet to be seen on the field.

he is listed as a RB on ESPN.
and is just as unproven as anybody on the roster. he will have to prove he can be a playmaker just like everybody else

as for Veii 40 time ESPN lists his 40 time as 4.49 40,
so if people only see the 4.3 40 time as the main rerason of getting this kid. his 40 time is no better or worse than the other commits this staff has committed

I know for sure he's not a fallback kid. Like I said, we were in on him earlier in the process before he picked MD. Apparently the coaches saw something in him they liked because they kept pursuing him and now that he decommitted from MD, Pitt and Purdue have joined in. On the surface his numbers don't impress too much but he's had four BCS teams flirting with him.

Herbs, this may surprise you, but not everything listed on recruiting websites are facts. In fact, a lot of times the information is inaccurate, exaggerated, or outdated. Go ahead and watch their highlight tapes and try telling everyone that someone like Greg Mabin, Cameron Wilson, or Derrick Willies is ACTUALLY faster than Veii. Because they are not, regardless of what ESPN or Rivals tells you.

did it ever occur to you that he is playing against slower players that make him look faster than he is, I look at video's when they are available, then take into account that maybe the players are not very fast either that are faster than the recruit they are looking at
videos are just as deceiving as stats, both need to be taken with a grain of salt

Then you might need one of these for all your recruiting posts.

Iowa is apparently still looking at 2 other receivers besides Veii. One is Brian LaMelle from PA who they have been recruiting for a LONG time, and has an official visit scheduled. 247 also has a picture of another receiver who is "shooting up Iowa's board" according to them, but I have no idea who it is. I wonder how many of these players we would take? First come first served?

The other WR is Anjeus Jones of South Oak Cliff HS in Dallas. Jones holds only an offer from New Mexico State right now, but expect that to change in the near future.
