All time low bowl attendance?

Do yall think that the Yankee bowl will draw even less than the Hawkslayer a few years back?

I was at 97 Sun Bowl and 14 Taxslayer.

There were, maybe 500, at the Hawkeye Huddle in Jacksonville.
At least, this bowl game, doesn't feel like the death nail of the program, like 2014, did.

Beat NW in OT, and we're playing in Nashville.

It doesn’t matter it is all about TV. That game will get a better number than any NHL or NBA game that night. It is 2017 not 1987.

I didnt go in 1997 but I went to the 1995 Sun Bowl. Iowa had a lot of fans who packed Juarez. I dont think I would go over there these days. I would assume this bowl will draw about the same as the Iowa/Rutgers game did last year

Hawks were stoked for the 95 Sun Bowl and it showed. There is no stoked this year.

I'm as disappointed and frankly PO'd about the way this season turned out, the coaching staff and being selected for this game. Lived in the NJ-NY area for more than two decades and New York City at the end of December holds no attraction to return. However, there are thousands and thousands of Iowa grads who live, work or are retired in the tri-state area and I would expect a significant number of them to attend. There's also an active I-club in NYC. The NY Metro Iowa Alumni Club @NYCHawkeyes arranges game views for football and much of the basketball season. Would expect they'll turn some folks out.

Cheapest seats are $65, it's a 16+ hour drive (which means you're flying), and it's not someplace warm. I don't see Hawk fans filling Yankee stadium.

Too many reasons to not go. Anyone have a good one to go? The fact NYC has a bowl game in an outdoor baseball stadium is just stupid. How on earth is that a 'reward' for the team? I'm sure the 'clubhouse' is state of the art nice being it is a newer stadium and it's the Yankees. But besides that the weather could be who knows how bad out. There's no way as a fan I'm paying for all that it'd take to go. I'll be crying on my couch that night

What do you mean beat NW in overtime, the hawks should have beat them 27-10 in regulation. Something like 240 yards of offense in the first half with one or two missed fourth downs in jNW territory, a missed FG, then a late TD drive.

Then not ready for the 2nd half and jNW adjustments as the offense went belly up. Cant blame the defense holding jNW to 10 points in Evanston. Some real hard to figure games this year and offensive collapses.

Just think, it could be ass freeing cold in NY on game day and snowing or snow on the ground. It will be dark, cold and depressing. Yeah, it's NY, but don't football teams want to go to a warm climate state? Boston College will have the home field advantage and a ton more fans than Iowa. Also, it won't be cheap to got to NY as well.

This is the way the new system works. We had to play this bowl sometime. This year at least it's been a mild winter. Trying to find something positive here, but honestly we had to go to New York sometime with the new rules. Let's get behind our team and just win a freakin bowl game, sign our recruits on 12-20 and get set for next year.

We have a few good recruits too in last few years from NJ and Pennsylvania. Maybe we steal one more on the trip

Typical attendance has been around 38,000. Biggest attendance was 49,000 and included BC in the game (vs. Penn State).

I think it's great that Iowa fans aren't going. It's good to let the right people know that the fanbase isn't just made up of a bunch of rubes who blindly throw money wherever the athletic department tells them to.

Thats for sure. My wife is from Brazil and I think that was the first bowl game she ever went to. She was surprised how many people travel to away games. Unknown in Brazil

Not much in the way of tailgating, either. Likely get your drink on at a huddle in the hotel, then take the subway to the stadium.

I sat through the coldest Iowa game I have went to. The Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida. Never again. I have no desire to go to NYC or freeze to death. Some will brave it out but why?.
