All these bowls thread

I've been watching the games as I can. Have not seen too many in their entirety.

Lane Kiffen's team blew out Akron. Most of the others have been pretty one sided. Right now

I thought SMU would show better but they didn't - a coach moved on and they got blown out.

Wyoming is clearly a better team than C. Michigan.

Maybe the games with P5 teams will be more interesting

I haven't watched much of any bowl games unless I was out having a beer and the TVs were on a game.

I will say that the Army-Navy game makes most of these bowl games look bad. The service teams played very hard, very skilled play, no showboating etc, with tremendous emotion and with a great crowd.

It was a really neat game. I've always rooted for Army (well, and Navy and Air Force too I guess), and it's great to see one of the early powers of college football back on the rise, against the odds and facing much greater challenges than many other teams.

My dad went from being an FBI agent in the early years of the second world war, to attending Annapolis to become a Lt. JG, to a ship in the Pacific Theatre, to anchoring in the harbor in Nagasaki, post war. Quite a journey. For him, the Army/Navy game was the super bowl until the day he died.

What does the JG mean?

junior grade I don't know much more, but J. E. Hoover actually set dad up with a colonel at Annapolis and he was probably a "90 day wonder." I have two framed letters...one he wrote from the harbor at Nagasaki. He never went ashore. The other is Hoover's response when dad chose to resign from the FBI after the war and go to the U. of Iowa Law School. He had been offered a desk job in DC by Hoover, but turned it down. Dad spent his career as an attorney in Rock Rapids, Iowa, where he grew up.

Wow, that’s pretty amazing.

I was born, raised, and still live 30 minutes away from Rock Rapids.

My brothers and I still have 320 acres of farm land right south and west of RR. We rent it out. Still feels like home up there, though I have lived in Wisconsin for many years.

Power 5 schools so far are 0-2 with Boise State beating Oregon and South Florida beating Texas Tech.

I sure hope the Kansas St. vs. UCLA game this evening is watchable. So far it's been a ruff day for bowl games. NIU is getting beat by Duke. The kitties are probably feeling ok but the fuskers...........not so much. Hahaha
