All of a sudden I don't hate Disney quite as much

I think next year will be a bubble kind of year, but probably on the right side of it. We might be better but so will a lot of other teams in the B1G. Sorry I'm not a sunshine-pumper.

Sorry you aren't a "sunshine -pumper"? That is an odd thing to say. Just because some might have a different opinion than you on Iowa's outlook for next year, doesn't mean they are a "sunshine pumpers".

Sunshine Pumper...Urban Dictionary definition

"One who fails to realize the reality of a situation, and instead continues to support/ballyhoo a person, program, etc.

The sunshine pumper sees that their team and coaches are playing hard equating to good, when in fact the players are not performing adequately and the coaches have failed to properly recruit/train/coach the team."

IMO the reality is we have as much talent returning next year as any team in the Big 10. This includes 2 players from the All Freshman team and the 6th Man award winner. And we have 3 quality incoming recruits...all of which provide potential help in areas of need.

I think Baer, Williams, Wagner and Ellingson all played hard. I feel all but Williams improved from their freshmen year. I think the freshmen were inconsistent with their effort...especially on defense. I think the majority if not all will improve as sophomores similar to this year's sophomores...especially on defense.

I believe our coaches do an excellent job of recruiting, training and coaching...4 straight 1st team all conference players and none were highly recruited/regarded out of high school. And I think our assistant coaches are as good as any group of assistants in the country.

Some will likely say I'm a "Sunshine Pumper." I think I'm subjectively objective!

The player Conner will affect one way or the other the most is Moss. I think he'd cut into his mins more so then JBo or Williams even. I think JBo has cemented himself as the PG and will only occasionally be playing off the ball during stretches of games. I hope Moss can make a big leap and play more consistent mins next year. I'd love Conner to come the more the merrier I say and he's clearly a talent worth having. It'd just be interesting to see how he'd work in early on.

I agree. ESPN has him a Top 100/4-Star talent. It's just that, according to articles here and elsewhere, his sport of choice is baseball.

GO HAWKS!!!

Just because he plays baseball and wants to play it in college doesn't mean it's his sport of choice. I have yet to read anything that suggests in the slightest that he will be giving up basketball. He will play for his father. If he is good enough to get playing time he will keep playing basketball. If basketball doesn't look like it has a future beyond college it is feasible that if baseball prospects are still high he could drop basketball to focus on baseball. That would be years down the road though and still would require him quitting a basketball team coached by his father and teammates with his brother. I just don't see it happening.

The BIG question is that with all these 4 stars, will Fran finally get out of the first round of the Big 10 Tournament? Won't believe it until I see it

Trust me, Adam, I know exactly what you mean. The problem is that kids at that age have minds of their own. My son (6' 2.5" 250 lbs) had the potential to have his college paid for. He's athletic and would have made a great offensive lineman (low level D-I/D-II) and on many occasions I tried to convince him of that. But his heart wasn't in it. Same with my daughter. One of the tallest girls in her class and when she played basketball she was tenacious on defense and one of the best rebounders on her team. Again .. her heart wasn't in it.

All I'm saying is that if Connor's heart isn't in playing basketball, regardless of dad and brother, he's not going to be an asset. I hope I'm wrong and will be the first to admit I am, but it's possible it's not in the cards. Again, from what I've read, his favorite sport, ergo his sport of choice, is baseball. I'm not saying he's not a great basketball player because he obviously is. But from what I've read, all things being equal, he'd rather play baseball.

Just my $.02 .. .. GO HAWKS!!!

While I can not argue with any credibility as I don't know Connor's true thoughts. I would imagine things might be different for a kid whose dad and mom played ball and your whole family life revolved around it. I also imagine the pressure to play basketball is extremely high. In life and sports it is common for children to follow their parents footsteps. I just don't see any reason why Connor would have to pick 1 or the other yet.

In or around top 25 the entire time.

Next year top half of the B1G finish - 10-7 seed in the dance
2 years - top 3 B1G finish - 8-4 seed. Be in the run for the title
3 years- top 3 B1G finish 7-1 seed. Be in the run for the title

Thumbs up.

I think the Fran can't recruit narrative is far in the rear view mirror

so....

Fran has got kids like

Gesell
Woody
Cook
Found diamonds with guys like White, Jok & Bohannon
turned players lke Marble into an all conference player
Turned Olseni into a pro
- got Uthoff back where he belongs

In the pipeline has

Connor Mc
Garza
Wieskamp
Patrick Mc

to name a few

for real, he walks on water at Iowa and should feel free to do whatever he wants...but that just like my opinion man.

Can the rest of you see why my signature is what it is

;):mad::cool::p:rolleyes::Do_O

B1G has a whole will be 'growing up' next year too. PSU will be salty. MSU could be scary.

Downside--could mask our improvement.
Upside--the league will be better thought of and 10-8/11-7 teams like Iowa will be given a much harder look at NCAA selection/seeding.

We need to eliminate those 'upset' pre-league losses, go at least 10-8 in league play, and we'll be dancing no doubt.

Reasonable.

Rob's thread with 3 of our guys in the rivals top 150 makes me think 10-8 is probably the floor for next year.

ESPN

Isaiah Moss - 4 star recruit
Tyler Cook - 4 star recruit
Jordan Bohotshot - 4 star recruit
Luke Garza - 4 star recruit
Connor Mac - 4 star recruit
Joe Weiskamp - 4 star recruit with a numeric rating higher than any other Hawkeye
Pat Mac - 4 star

Okay, so they we are. Fran did his job and brought in the talent. Guys like Marble and Jok who weren't prep All-Americans elevated their game. So we know the guys who aren't 4 stars can play the game.

Absolutely no reason not to make the dance next year and certainly make a run in the years to follow.

Tell the board what your expectations are for next year and beyond????????

But the real story is the pure number of 4* talent that will be on the floor at the same time, unprecedented at Iowa. It's not that he got the 4*, it's the number of them that is impressive. So yea, if they can all elevate their games like Marble and Jok, look out.
