Alamo take Nebraska and match AZ?

Okay, still thinking this through. Folks have explained that Nebraska would not be rematched with Washington in the Alamo, but why wouldn't the Alamo select Arizona instead, allowing them to match them with Nebraska, and the accompanied large fan travel and TV appeal? Seems like a more interesting matchup than Washington v. Ok St. They are saying Washington fans will travel well due to not having been in a bowl since 2002, so maybe that's it, and that Ok St would bring alot of fans as well. Without question, though, Neb would bring fans and TV ratings.

Because Nebraska destroyed Arizona last year in the Holiday bowl and I don't think people would tune it this game to watch another rematch even if it was in a different bowl game.

Yep, this exactly. The Insight has to be drooling at the possibility of matching Iowa and Nebraska together....this game should have better TV ratings than some of the ****** BCS matchups going on.

That makes sense. So, unless the Michigan AD was just wrong in his "other direction" statement at the Annual Michigan Football Banquet (clearly implying Michigan was going to Gator), it IS a virtual lock, Hawks v. Huskers. No other option is truly viable. Thread topic open and closed.

nebraska has make it clear they dont want a arizona match up. Mike Hlas has stated that pelini does not want to play stoops again. they are too close of friends and would lobby not to play them agin

I think it is a virtual lock that Iowa will be in the Insight, but they could still play one of Nebraska, Missouri, or Oklahoma St.

hawkeyescott, are you thinking Nebraska could get an at-large BCS bid? I say this because the only two teams that Nebraska could face in the Alamo would be AZ (crushed them in last year's bowl), or Washington (played them this year), so there is no other alternative. How do you see them in the BCS?
