Wow, is this accurate?? That's an unbelievably weak schedule when you compare to Iowa with teams like Pitt, Arizona, Iowa State.

FYI, Tenneesee is playing North Texas this weekend. How funny is that?

And, this year, Alabama played Middle Tennessee State and University of Louisiana-Monroe (so far). On November 21, they battle the mighty Charleston Southern Buccaneers.

But they are Alabama - where losses don't count against you and strength of your OOC is ignored.

This is a list of the patsies....they played a few against some decent teams...nothing like COWARD was insinuating though

just a note on most board uses preferences. most prefer the abbreviation ooc for out of conference.
NC is typically used to refer to anything related to the National Championship.

Plus if you are going to go to all that trouble to list ooc teams back to 1996, you might as well list them all to avoid being misleading. Bama usually plays at least 1 P5 team ooc each year including Wisc, Mich, Penn St from the BigTen recently.

But your original point is still valid. Bama plays a lot of not-so-great teams ooc.

Guffus:

save the hall monitor crap for someone that might give a flying crap

if you don't know what NC stands for then why even show up on football chat rooms?

2009 Fla Int / North Texas / Va Tech / Chattanooga!
2010 San Jose State / Ga State / Penn St / Duke
2011 Kent State / N Texas / Ga State / Penn St
2012 W Kentucky / Fla Atlantic / W Carolina / Brady Hoke's Michigan (as Cowherd noted about Iowa)
2013 Ga State / Chattanooga/ / Va Tech / Colorado St
2014 Fla Atlantic / W Carolina / West Va / Southern Miss
2015 Wisconsin / Middle Tenn State / UL Monroe / Charleston Southern

I put the rest of OOC schedule in Bold. They normally schedule one tough game and 3 REALLY BIG CUPCAKES!

Iowa always has 2 Power 5 conference teams on its schedule, ISU which is elevated because of instate rivalry and 1 P5 school that is one tier lower than Bama's one and only good OOC game.

I'd honestly prefer to do it Bama's way, but to say Bama schedules way better than Iowa is a big exaggeration.

Also consider that the one P5 game they play is typically at a "neutral site" (mostly Atlanta), so this should be considered another home game for them. With the exception of Penn State around 2010-2011, they are not scheduling anything where they have to travel out of the south to play.

Look, there are many sports casters/opinion makers who hate the B1G's lack of potency from top to bottom. Hate that along the way Iowa could, for example, play a team with the quality of this season's Purdue, or Rutgers, or Maryland. What Iowa haters are trying to prove is Iowa doesn't play anybody on a week to week basis like the SEC, so, therefore, Iowa doesn't deserve to be in the national championship picture.

My guess is they would want all four teams in the national championship to be from the SEC since they believe the SEC has the best teams who cannibalize each other week to week. Maybe they would go for an increase in the number of playoff teams to let in other non-SEC schools? Maybe they would go for some rating system to determine the 'quality' of each conference and accordingly decide the number of conference representatives making the playoffs (just spitballing)?

In their irrational and misguided way of ragging on Iowa's B1G preseason to prove Iowa hasn't played anybody, they HAVEN'T proven Iowa hasn't played anybody. What they're trying to point out is Iowa doesn't play anybody on a week to week basis like the SEC. This is the only thing that makes sense for their argument.

This is a playoff among the best teams to determine the best team, isn't it? Why are politics being introduced so strongly into the playoff picture? Why does there need to be a representative from some major conferences (and not necessarily others)? Why do the majority of teams making the playoffs have to come from the best conference?

I love the old, "From top to bottom..." argument they often make. Who really CARES whether or not the $EC #12 team could beat the B1G #12 team? Neither are relevant to either the CFP or (in most cases) the bowl placement picture.

And who doesn't get a chuckle from the "$EC teams have to play each other every week!" snoozer. Duh. EVERY conference does that...sorta. Bama, for example, is playing ham-and-eggers in November. B1G doesn't allow that (for the most part).

My favorite: "The $EC has dominated the landscape for the past..." Who cares. It's THIS year now, not last year or the year before. Nobody mentions that the national champion, be it BCS or CFP, has NOT been from the $EC the past two seasons.

Basically, we could dissect each and every team and figure out a way to either elevate or demote them in any given scenario. $EC/E$ecPN hacks just happen to focus on $EC teams and their "supremacy/superiority". Better, more objective analysts/networks don't do that as much.

why is Speilman not involved in the discussion?

he knows his stuff and always enjoyed listening to his commentaries involving Iowa

Exactly Right.

Then when you rank half of the SEC in the Top 15 in the preseason polls every year, and those teams start to beat each other in regular season, then everyone points to all of these great wins everyone from the SEC has, as proof of how strong the conference is from top to bottom. Maybe there's more parity, even in the almighty SEC, then people want to admit.

Then, come bowl season, the SEC isn't half as dominant as everyone thinks they are, once they're playing teams from other conferences. Just look at last year. The SEC's ranked teams went 2-5 in their bowl games.

I'm not saying the SEC hasn't been a great football conference over the years. They've had their powerhouses, but I think there's some smoke & mirrors going on with them in the ranking system and a false illusion of dominance, regarding the conference as a whole.
