FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- A football player for the Alabama Crimson Tide has died in Northeast Florida.

The Fernandina Beach Police Department told Action News officers found Aaron Douglas dead around 8 a.m. Thursday on 1st Avenue. No word yet on a cause. Investigators have been at the scene all morning. Douglas, 21, had been in town on vacation since Tuesday, according to police. Fernandina Beach is about 30 miles north of Jacksonville.

Douglas was a 6'7", 275 pound offensive lineman. He starred as a tight end at Maryville High School in Tennessee, and according to the University of Alabama he became a star offensive tackle at the University of Tennessee where he became an All-American.

Douglas left Tennessee in March 2010 to reportedly deal with "personal issues." He played at Arizona Western College before transferring to the University of Alabama. The university says Douglas' father played at Tennessee and with the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL.

Action News has a crew in Fernandina Beach gathering more information on this developing story. Watch Action News beginning at 5 p.m. on CBS47.

After reading that from ESPN, I m suprised they didn't go with a story on "oversigning."

What does that have to do with the insider update quoted above?

That insider quote is from the Rumors section where it's their job to tell people how a trade, injury, or death in this case will affect the lineup.

It's not on the front page and you have to look for it to even find it.
