Alabama LSU is lowest-rated BCS Title Game ever

Just a couple of notes about this. First off, all BCS games were down this year. 10% to be exact. So it's not just the title game. I think a lot of people aren't taking this into account. Also, this game was still the highest rated thing on cable since last year's BCS title game. Still a huge money maker.

ha if you think Osu is a better team than bama. Idk what to tell you. the national championship should have the best two teams in the game end of story

Haha touche. but still these were the best two teams in the country by far this year, and the past few years IMO. how do you not want to watch that?

By far???? Guess we'll never know. I thought the two teams that played in the Fiesta Bowl would've beat both those two offensive disasters we saw last night.

SEC football...like watching paint dry...but worse.

I don't care if the bowl season is too long.. I'll also gladly wait until February to watch the Super Bowl.

I'm wondering: do some people not care if the best team wins the BCS game?

Some people think the game should have high drama.

Some people think there should be a playoff.
EDIT: how much should regular season results count towards BCS standings?

Some people think only conference champions should be allowed to participate in the BCS game.

Sorry, guy, but there is no way of knowing if Alabama and/or LSU is better than OKSt. That's just the way it is with the way the system played out this year.

It's highly questionable if this game had the best two teams participating. End of story.

The game was a yawner. They were the best two teams in the country, IMO, but because they mirrored each other the game action was stifling to say the least.

SEC football is pretty bad. When have they won anything?

Both defenses were good - especially Alabama's. But I was less than impressed with either offense. 5 FG's, and a late TD in garbage time. That's it.

I struggle to say that I think Ok. State was better than either Alabama or LSU, but yeah, watching last night's game made my eyes bleed.

...or even Oregon at this point in the year.

Teams improve throughout the year. The BCS system can't account for that very well.

I like the bowls, but one has to admit that nearly every other team sport has a more fair and rational way to determine a champion.

Some would still vote LSU #1 after last night (Steave Deace, I think, is one). LSU would've scored -3 last night if it were allowed. The whole thing is odd.

A team scoring zero points in the game of the year. Not a #1 team.

Great defenses versus subpar QBs = boring.

Saban and Miles can coach defenses. They fail when coaching or utilitzing QBs.

Everyone complained with the bowl games 70-33 and 67-45 where is the defense? Where is the tackling? You get it and yet we still complain. It was a great game to watch. Fast, athletic defenses flying around picture tackling in the open field and a fantastic defensive game plan by the best college coaching staff.

I remember people on this board complaining about all of the spread offenses and now we get 2 pro style offenses and we complain about them.

Make up your minds, please.

Agreed, I agree with Steve on a lot, but not that. You gotta show up for the biggest game of the year, period.

Maybe it's a statement against the BCS, but the fact is were this a playoff system of even the top four teams we could have still had this exact same outcome and no one could legitimately complain that Alabama won.

I am so much more into the NFL playoffs at this point than the level of offensive ineptiitude witnessed last night. The Bama qb was considered a star because he could throw five yard completions to his tight end against a 9 man front on first down. Contrast that with Eli, Brady, Rogers, Tebow, etc. and it is no contest.

That was a regional game played to a regional audience and the ratings reflected it. Now that everything is so SEC centric this is what you can expect from the ratings. I think the BCS got just what it deserved although I sure as hell don't think Okie State belonged there ahead of Alabama.

I would just as soon go back to the old bowl system and let the voters decide it following New Years. This whole drawn out process of crap BCS games after New Years is awful. The two best bowl games were the Fiesta and Rose on January 2nd. Everything that followed was pathetic.

I think Alabama, especially recently, is the epitome of the proof against the argument from Jon and Steve that you can hide your QB in college football. And frankly LSU is probably #2 in the discussion with some of Sweatervest's teams as well over the years as well.

But yeah, the Alabama QB isn't anything stellar in my opinion. I think quite a few college QB's can run that offense successfully. That Alabama team is predicated on Defense, OL play and run blocking before you ever really factor in the necessity for a passing play maker at QB.
