I find it interesting that BF admitted we only have 3 running plays basically, and compared that to the Patriots. Lol. And just like the Patriots we scheme to get the best player the ball. What?? Would Belichik have run stretch right to the short side of the field to Akrum? Over and over and over and over... ???

I give him credit for doing what Davis couldn't, or wouldn't do, and that is get the tight ends the ball, but the running game took a step backwards last year. There wasn't a lot of scheming there. And he did not get our best player the ball unless he thought Easley was our best player.

I realize part of Leisitkow's job is to write pieces praising KF and BF, but can we refrain from all these comparisons to the Patriots until they are earned on the field? I mean it is kind of an insult to Belichik and I don't even like Belichik. I believe our total offense ranked 116th. Just ahead of Kansas.

If we don’t give Phil Parker a shot at the HC job when it’s open two things are going to happen. He’s going to leave and take a team to the CFP eventually, and Brian “The Brain” Ferentz is going to take this program back to the Lauterbur days on a rocket sled.

I understand the criticism of Brian learning on the job as an OC at an FBS school, more specifically it happening at our favorite FBS school, but that's the reality, so let's see how well he does this year. His learning curve will need to be steep, as the collective patience of the fans will be worn out quickly if things don't step up. There were enough signs last year to make me think he's capable. When the game plan worked, things clicked, but when it didn't, the in game adjustments, to the extent they were made, were not very good. He'll need to get much better in that area, as the plans don't always go as planned.

It's just stupid to lay it all at BF feet. I think you all know that.
You could have 200 plays, but if not everyone graps or knows them, the success rate would be almost nill.
I'm willing to cut some slack, we had a bunch of new starters all over the place last year. I expect them to be better, but other teams will be better also, so no time to let off of the gas pedal.

You know what is going to make Brian a better offensive coordinator, his two freshman offensive tackles becoming sophomores and the three freshman wide receivers that played last year becoming sophomores. Think about that for a moment...kids playing grown men in some cases where the kids aren't sure what they are doing. Might be another way for Akrum to add value. If not, I see him as a one trick pony as a 3rd down pass catcher from the backfield. If you’re gonna be a specialist you better be damn good at that one thing.

Akrum was certainly a dynamic playmaker at the college level. I’m not sure how that translates to the NFL.

A lot of NFL caliber running backs make people look silly. Akrum, apparently, wasn’t in the top 25 of those select guys this year. Was he a good college back? Yes. But at 190 he doesn’t hardly exist on an NFL roster unless he does some variety of kicking. Reggie Bush has about 20 lbs on him and makes Akrum look stupid.

Guys who drop dirty UAs, beat up their girlfriends, or get video taped with gas mask bongs drop a few spots but still get drafted. Kirk never suspended him at all and Kirk doesn't have a high threshold for putting up with low-character guys. Any character issues were not why AW didn't get drafted.

Some of those guys are actually first round talents and the NFL gives no fvcks about the character crap. We’re arguing about a 6th or 7th round pick at best and it turns out he wasn’t picked at all, so character issues or not, he wouldn’t ever be picked above a more talented player who might have some character issues.

It was just a small sample during the open periods for media, but from the get-go it’s already clear running back Akrum Wadley has a burst.

Wadley (5-10, 194), who ran for 1,109 yards and 10 touchdowns during his final season at Iowa, joined the team as an undrafted free agent, and he’ll compete this offseason for a roster spot.

Wadley is closer to Dion Lewis than Derrick Henry from a size standpoint. His biggest competition on the roster will come from David Fluellen, the team’s No.3 back a year ago.

One thing I noticed: Wadley has a running style that includes a bit of a jump-step, or a skip. It allows him to get into another gear in a hurry.

After all these years Utah's basketball team, which left New Orleans in 1979, is still named the Jazz. If Salt Lake City is associated with anything resembling Jazz then I'm dating Michelle Beadle.

Just surmising here, but, my gut feeling is that one of the biggest reasons Wadley wasn't drafted was his unwillingness to pass-block.

If you're going to be a 3rd-down specialist in the NFL, you better be stout picking up blitzes. If not, you'll be given a pink slip in a hurry. NFL execs and coaches place a high premium on protecting their franchise QBs.

For as much as I love Wadley, keeping it real, he was flat out terrible reading blitzes and stuffing rushers. At times, he almost looked like he didn't even want to try, and you can bet scouts paid very closely to that aspect of his game. Can that be taught? Sure, but, if I'm an NFL scout, I'm asking myself why he didn't respond to the teaching he received in the first place.
