We went to "book of mormon" so missed the game. My son told me about some of hilites and lowlites.
Watched replay today and:
1. Some players , most, need to take more time at the FT line, eyeing the rim, getting comfortable, some get the ball and just rush into the shot without hardly looking up at the rim.
2. I would hate to be a player with these refs. Sometimes people get mugged and knocked down and there is no call and then a play like Woody barely bumping a guard 22 feet from the bucket hedging around a screen and he gets called for a foul. Just weird how inconsistent these refs are, both ways, not homering.
3. Good to see the outside shooting warm up some as mccabe, JO, gesell hit some nice shots.
4. I cant see how Mike Gesell can drive to the hoop at the 2:40 mark 2nd period and get plastered into the backboard stand without a foul call. This is the kind of crap like in the Purdue game where Lute Olson charged after Jim Bain.
5. Hawks looked like they were not ready for the physical play in the first 5 minutes when they fell behind and of course another dry spell at the end of a game where no one could hit a bucket, grab a key rebound or make a couple free throws.
I think they played pretty good but just really need to up that FT shooting with more concentration. Holding Minny to 62 on their court shows the defense is playing pretty well.
I am not going to talk about our bad switching defense on out of bounds plays under their bucket.
I am still positive, want to see them in a tourney, enjoy watching them again,
Anything else stand out to people?
