Adjustments on D at NW

I usually just lurk but never mind the conservative approach on O that frustrates the average fan. Why will Norm not make the change to a Nickle or Dime D against the spread or even put in a db on the 4-3 base to cover that fifth WR, every time on 3rd down you could see our LB try his hardest but not be able to cover their slot WR for more than 2 seconds. And with the D line gassed it was like shooting fish in a barrel, Norm I love you vs. anything but the spread, but this is why we've have trouble with teams that run the spread like NW, IU, and to some extent Purdue (now Michigan) under your watch. If I can diagnosis this at home, I'm sure you can too. Thoughts?

At one point Lowery was in when Prater came off the edge with a blitz. he's a freshman and we don't seem real deep in the secondary. Who knows, maybe the LBs give us the best chance. I agree that we don't adjust well, but I don't know the personnel like Norm or other D coaches, but we are thin at LB too, so who knows. Something has to change. Be interesting to see what happens when Norm retires.
